We could say the same thing for Panasonic this year and the "noisy fan" issues I have seen posted about.....Considering this is the nature of the forums (to report issues) surpsied at the comments from established members....

It would be nice if all companies had trouble free lines, unfortunately thats just not reality....Considering both companies are around 2% return\defect rates (reported at the shootout) Seems they are about even......

Enjoy.

thats my middle name chase.
Boy im always chasing color one tweek here then one tweek there looks good then i change eek.gif the channel and i'm off to the races again great advice

I was not knocking Samsung. I was speaking from my own experience like everyone else.

I have one problem. I'm on my third TV and I'm deciding on going for number 4. Even with the following problems.

First TV had the best screen but the bezel on top near the camera was bent. From the screen to the bezel was a space of about half an inch.

2nd TV had a spot. And a dead pixel. The spot look like the protective coating for the glare or light reflection was not put on even and had a smuge that would not come out. You could see it from side agles and from angle below the TV. Could not see it looking straight at it. I will post pictures at some other time.

Now for TV 3. This has the same problem as TV 2 but in bigger scale this tv has 2 vertical lines that go from top to bottom that can be seen when light is coming in the room and from side and bottom angles. Plus it seems to have a horizontal band on top. All can be seen when TV is off. When TV is on the vertical bands can still be seen at different angles. When watching TV form the sofa bands can't be seen.

I think it has to do with the reflective coating to prevent light in. Im assuming this because it is seen worse when sitting right below the TV looking up. Like when this thread had the first pictures put up and the picture was taken from below. That dark area has spots on this 2nd TV and vert lines on the 3rd TV.

Don't know what to do. I have best buy and have 60 day return policy. Should I try for TV 4? I'm just tired of setting up and putting down every time. Wife and daughter think I'm crazy bu they both see the lines. My daughter even pointed them out and she's 10. So the problem is there . I think they are just tired of me spending so much time with it.

Would like some advise, thanks!

I'm not getting a VT60 from what I see the ZT is not worth the extra cash.

Darth

Id make sure that you arent getitng returned TVs in exchange 1st, also it has happened that stores have gotten "bad batches" of TVs, this may also be the case with your best Buy...Are you inspecting these TVs before the delivery men leave? or are you pickign it up at the store? If you are picking it up at the store I would have them bring it out for you to inspect it before you bring it home....

Luckily I have a decent 51". No visual/audible buzz problems.

I love the TV. Guess I am lucky.

+1
Not a issue of any kind here, I've had 3 DLPs, 3 LCDs and now this plasma(all Samsung of course) and the only issue I ever had was the light engine crapped out on my last DLP and Samsung replaced it out of warranty (parts and labor)..
One thing I can honestly say is my personal confidence in Samsung products is pretty damn high..

Yes.

"did it do it again in this post"

But not in the quote. I'm not sure how long it's been going on but it didn't just start.

I have a B550 that is still going strong.
I've only ever bought two Samsung TV's and they have both been 100% good.

The F8500 is the most CRT like plasma I've seen. In fact, I'm almost willing to say it IS CRT if I didn't notice how damn thin it is and the minor amount of dithering not seen in CRT. Horizontal line bleed is barely noticeable, it pretty much behaves exactly like my Sony CRT monitor which has minimal line bleed on specific material as well. ABL is almost non-existent. Colors pop out and the image is very beautiful, extremely crisp and clear. I can't believe no one mentioned this in any review, that this thing just doesn't line bleed like other plasmas!

On top of that, the design of the display is gorgeous. I like how it looks more than the Panny line up.

Unfortunately, the display is very laggy. That's the only major drawback of the set. It's extremely noticeable if you use a HTPC with it and you're moving your mouse around. I'll try to refrain from commenting further on the lag, but if anyone is planning on using it with a HTPC then be prepared to do some major adjusting to mouse lag.

Sorry if I'm being redundant but have you tweaked your modes? To me the behavior you describe is only when you don't switch your input to "PC" or use Game mode. Both seems to offer the best performance and I don't notice any mouse lag. Using straight normal input yes you get mouse lag.

i thought i read that they said at the shoot out that samsung and panasonic have about a 2% returns so to come out with a drive by statement without facts and say samsung has bad quality doesn't make it so
i'm sorry it's like complaining without a solution

What makes me think this thread is headed to the toilet like the shootout thread? I refuse to go back to that one and I sincerely hope the trash talk doesn't permeate here too.
If Samsung made a butt dildo, I guarantee you it wouldn't break.

[li'l joke there...]
