^^^ Not if you look at the new OLED's. I think I saw you in the LG OLED thread.........

I am familiar they are at around 0.0001 fTL or lower, yes. smile.gif I was staying focused on plasmas.

Ok, here's another question. Has anyone figured out how to program a Harmony remote button to do a voice command? I'm setting up my Harmony 670 in anticipation for my TV delivery tomorrow, and I noticed that there doesn't seem to be a drop down option to pick voice from the samsung TV remote choices.

I too have noticed after upgrading the firmware 1114 my picture looks softer and more aliasing. Not happy about it. I guess i can try bumping brightness, sharpness, etc. Is there a way to update the firmware to an older version? Anyone ask Samsung about this?
The older FW is still on the Samsung Download site. 1114 isn't even mentioned.
It would be interesting to see whether you are able to downgrade. I fear not.
Also those saying the FW has changed for the worse. Pull the plug on the TV for five minutes. One of the processing boards may have got stuck trying to upgrade.

I cannot see any difference since upgrading but I have recently done a new calibration on 1114 so I am unable to fairly compare before and after.

That's the biggest (646M) FW I've ever seen!
^ Netflix changing their interface and still keeping the old one for overlap. The FW includes both versions.

Thats the first thing I did. So far from what I gather the problem is only affecting those of us with 60 and 64 inch sets.

Question..if I purchase the set from a non authorized dealer....what warranty would you recommend for protection? Reason for asking..about 1grand lower...thanks

If memory serves, that was the 42" Kuro model, generation 8.

What receiver are you all using? I have my PN64F8500 connected to a Denon AVR-X2000 and with HDMI-CEC activated (but not ARC). The Denon has the annoying habit of switching back to the Audio Input about 5 seconds after the TV is turned on. Samsung tech support blames Denon for 'misinterpreting' something, e.g. activating the optical audio-output. Denon says the Samsung must be sending an HDMI-CEC command in error. There's really no way for me to know who's right -- so I'm hoping some of you can help?

For instance, are any of you using HDMI-CEC but not ARC and on a non-Denon receiver? If you turn both on simultaneously, then select a non-TV input (e.g. BD), does your receiver switch back to the TV input?

Copy it,think so,It's probably a good idea to break these in for a couple of hundred hours. Since they just came in a few days ago, you're talking by mid to late next week for a review if Chad is available. I believe Robert Zohn mentioned they would review their model this coming weekend.

Sdsalsero,

Disable the TV input on the Denon and use an optical cable mapped to another Denon input of your choice.

PN64F8500 has arrived, been setup, FW downloaded and currently running the Pixel Protector slide show.
Now I know why people buy LEDS- WIVES!
`I don't want to watch your breakin Slides. I want to watch my Programs NOW! Why did we buy a big ass TV if I can't watch my Programs?!''

I have a Ps3 and I can't find a way to get the picture to fill the screen and it looks a little grainy. I've tried all the modes on the set and the zoom1 and zoom2 are grayed out.I'm assuming one of these settings will get the picture to fill in but I'm kind of lost. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have this problem now on all sources... Zoom1 and Zoom 2 which I started out using to get tickers off the screen and channel logos off too (am still doing break in period)... now they are grayed out.  I made sure my blue ray (Samsung too) was 1080 and the cable box output too... no matter what the screen isn't filled... screen fill actually makes the picture smaller not larger...  was using 1112 version of firmware... was going to update to 1113 to see if that fixed but all that is on website (that I could find) was 1114 so I'm trying that and hoping for no PQ reduction....

I can try that, thanks! But what if the problem is the Samsung sending an unnecessary HDMI-CEC command for 'select TV input'? I suspect my Denon will switch to its "TV Input" even though there's no signal. What receiver/brand are you using, and do you have HDMI-CEC enabled?
^ Denon 2112ci. With the TV input disabled, it cannot switch to it. I had the same problem. This is a work-around.
I use the optical for the TV's Smart features - Netflix etc.

After it's installed, try a factory reset.
You'll need to note down your settings prior as everything gets nuked ala 'Just Out Of Box'.

Hi,
Does anyone have settings for this display? I wanted use these until I have my display ISF'd.

Thanks,
Ken

Problem is, they never stay happy for more than 20 minutes. Now she's griping about the cheap 3D Glasses, and we haven't even tried them yet.
`Send the TV back, put the old one back.' (And who was it that wanted a BIGGER Set?)
(She has the old 55" LG LH9500 in her bedroom now, a 55" LG LHX in her loft, and a Samsung 32" in the family room, up above the fireplace. It's not like she has no other set to watch!)
@ PieandChips... Appreciate the suggestion... Did the firmware update and then just did factory reset... No joy zoom 1 and 2 are still grayed out.... Am going to search the owners manual... But skimming through didnt see anything that said they would be disabled....
^ You don't need a zoom mode to be full screen. Something isn't right.
Some channels fill the screen and some don't... I was using zoom 1 and 2 before to get them to dill the screen....or to get the tickers off the screen... Might need to talk to Samsung support I guess....
Received my second F8500, which does not exhibit the upper screen flashing in the dark areas of the bottom part of the screen, however this new set will not display the connection info when the "Info" button is invoked on either the regular remote (yes the new sets now have two remotes) or the touch remote. I know it's receiving a signal as the small red lcd at the bottom of the screen flashes when a remote button is pressed. Has anyone else seen this behavior?

Sorry, you were talking about a PS3? That does not need zoom mode.

The Great and Powerful Oz 3D won the wife over to letting me keep the P64F8500 - had to take a break from the breakin she was upset about, to show her the 3D. She's Impressed, I keep the PN64F8500, but have to find better 3D Glasses that have side covers. (Maybe try to pick up those safety glasses side pieces somewhere.)

pieandchips, I have the same set up as you, 64f8500 with denon 2112, but I'm confused to how and why you set up with an optical cable, I too have the problem of the tv switching or looking for an input. Could you please give me a step by step on how to fix this and would I be losing anything by using the optical cable. What I see the tv doing, is while I'm watching a show all of a sudden in the top left corner I will see hdmi 1080 60i pop up, why does it do this? Thanks for the help and sorry for the ramble.
