Trying to figure out the difference between these 2 Vizios?

I'm in the market for an expensive tv, (preferably $600s or less). I was at my local BJ's this afternoon and they have 2 different 47" Vizio LED tv's that are both priced within $10 of eachother. I can't seem to figure out the difference between the two of them. Does anyone have any insight into this?

TV #1: Vizio M470SL (2012 M-series) - $599 (Vizio MSRP: $699)
47" 1080P Edgelit Razor-LED
"effective" 120Hz refresh
9ms response time

TV #2: Vizio E470i-A0 (2013 E-Series?) - $589 (Vizio MSRP: $599)
47" 1080P edgelit LED
"effective" 120Hz refresh
6ms response time

Is this basically a difference of a model # change from year-to-year, when in reality the actual specs are almost the same? If so, its funny that the older tv costs more than the newer one. I can't seem to find anything that really sets it apart. Also, can anyone provide any insight into what Vizio's "effective" refresh rate is? Is this deceptive marketing, like LG's actual 60hz, but "TruMotion 120hz" tvs? I'm looking for something that is legitemately a 120hz tv.

Any feedback you guys have is much appreciated!

One difference I noted was the the #2 470e has Smart Dimming mode. I have that on my 65in M-series and I think it is a good feature to have as long as you can turn it on or off (which I can on my set - you would need to check the online manual to confirm though).
