AVR-1911 White Noise and Standby

Over the last few weeks I have had an issue with my receiver which is symptomised as follows.

I get intense white noise from my left mid surround speaker (I have a 7.1 setup) this lasts from a few seconds to several minutes the receiver then goes into standby mode. The receiver can then be re-started with no further issues for some time simply by pressing the On/Off/Standby button.

This is becoming more frequent.

Any suggestions please

Try swapping the L/R "side" surround speakers to confirm it's not a speaker issue.

Yes, I tried that. The problem stays with the channel not the speaker

Check to make sure you don't have any loose speaker stands touching another speaker post. Or if you have in-wall wiring, check the integrity of that wire with an ohm meter. Otherwise, try resetting the microprocessor (p. 80 OM). If still no joy, you're likely out of the 2 year warranty period, so if purchased with a credit card, check with the issuer to see if they will extend the warranty an extra year (AMEX will as will some MC/Visa).
