Hi
I am moving back to Cambridge Mass and the only option there for cable is Comcast and it's super expensive as a result. I'd like to use my HD Terk OTA antenna to get the few channels I would like to watch and get the rest of my TV entertainment from Hulu+ and/or Netflix, if possible. I already have a media server with 12TB of video and music on it (mainly ripped mkv files using DD and 1080p codecs). What would you suggest for streaming the content from my media player to my HDTV as well as using Hulu+ and Netflix? My budget is no more than $250, though if I can spend less, that would be better. I'd prefer to have ethernet rather than wifi, but I'd settle for wifi if I must.
I currently have a Denon AVR 2310 receiver with a 5.1 Ascend speaker setup, but I am considering selling both the AVR and speakers and getting a soundbar instead due to space constraints. Does this factor into the decision of what player to buy?
I'm open to buying two devices, if I must (it seems Roku or WDTV is best for streaming content?)...
Finally, will the device skip frames while watching a 20GB ripped mkv bluray file?
Thank you.
