Speaker stands for KEF Q300 and Q100

Please recommend the best stands for Q300 as fronts (probably at 30 inch) and Q100 as rears (~30-36 inch)

I googled for images but then realized that the stands also affect the sound quality.

From reviews I see that these are not stable on carpet and are not wide at base.

I have Q100s on VTI DF36 stands. They're stable, especially after I filled the post with kitty litter. When I looked, they were one of the few options that tall with wire management.

You want stands that are as rigid and massive as possible.

All-welded steel construction is usually best, and filling the vertical column with steel birdshot or sand is a very good idea to add mass and damping.

You can get a metal shop to make good stands from a 3-inch diameter steel tube and metal plates welded to top and bottom. You can save a lot of money that way and get very good stands.

You can get the floor spikes from many vendors including Music Direct or Amazon.

Only $119 for 8 at MD. You might as well buy pre-made stands for that price.

You want your stands to be 30" tall or the speakers on top of the stands to be 30"?

Also guys, how well does kitty litter work as mass loading?

I've been using these ...

http://www.amazon.com/Vantage-Point-SSB-30BB-Adjustable-Bookshelf/dp/B0006G1IJ0/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1364019290&sr=8-7&keywords=adjustable+speaker+stands

I wanted stands with adjustable height. They are very stable. I wasn't crazy about the look, but now that I have them in the room they look/work fine. Some of the more curved aspects of the design disappear into the room. Basically you don't notice them, which works for me.

I thought I would have to screw in speakers to this? Will this be able to hold kef q300's?

Finalized down to these two:

Please suggest which is better. Speaker is 14 inch in length. KEF's Q300 & Q100

Bell'O SP-300 30" (http://www.amazon.com/BellO-SP-300-Finish-Speaker-Stands/dp/B000M4MEXU/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top)
VS
Vantage Point SSB-30BB (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006G1IJ0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER)

Really appreciate all the help smile.gif

You could use the provided screws, but I use blu-tac with no problems.

I've used the stands for both the Q100 and Q300 (the Q300 is only 1.2" wider and deeper than the Q100). FWIW, both speakers' weight-center is slightly towards the front so I always place the speakers on the stand accordingly - i.e. with the backside of the speaker sticking out a bit farther than the front side of the speaker. The extra inch of depth on the Q300 didn't matter.
