Looking for decent subwoofer - prefer to stay under $500

I just purchased (3) energy v-mini center channels for my fronts and will be using (2) energy take classics for my rear speakers. I have a room that is approx. 15x20 with 12 ft ceilings. Our typical usage is 50% TV, 25% music and 25% movies. I am not looking for anything earth shattering just a decent sounding system to start off with. I would like a sub that compliments these speakers and is compact (if possible). Your recommendations would be appreciated, thanks!

What is the size of the listening room and is it interconnected with other rooms.

As a start, four subwoofers is the ideal. Two is the recommended minimum purchase for the room smoothing capability that overlapping sound waves, produced by multiple sources, creates.

If one wanted a complimentary subwoofer system, then a pair of delivered Klipsch, RW-12d's, purchased on sale at Newegg for a bit more than your stated budget ($600.00), should make you a happy camper.

3,600 cu.ft. is a good-sized room. You'll probably want two subs in that space. But as far as a single sub goes, the SVS PB-1000 ($499, shipped) is a solid option that meets your budget requirement.
