Upgraded this week... then Upgraded Again! Suggestions Wanted

New guy, Geek out of Delaware. Had my first projector back as a teenager (Sony 1031 CRT). I sure don't miss the days of aligning those tubes.

I've moved on and had a few projectors since, but decided to upgrade my 5 year old Sharp to a JVC DLA this past week.

Bought an RS45, used with new bulb. Reputable seller, thought it was a good enough deal, and liked the reviews on this projector.
Then yesterday I stumbled across an RS46, New B-Stock with "warranty". I couldn't pass this up.

I hope to have both by the end of the week. Is the RS46 worth the premium? I've never bought anything "B-stock" before. Should I have concerns? What should I do to verify the condition and warranty status?

Thanks for any help.

the RS46 has a new lamp system that should be better than the previous models. Check the firmware when you get the RS46. If you're into 3D, there is a firmware update available that helps reduce ghosting in 3D, but it must be sent in for the update. You might get lucky and have the current firmware since a B stock may have passed through JVC recently.

The new bulb was another major reason for my decision to get the RS46 even after purchasing the 45. I'm hoping it's worthwhile.

B-stock a pretty reliable purchase?

I've bought a B-stock projector before and since it came with the manufacturer's warranty I was at ease and projector was just like a brand new one at 1/2 the price so I would have no trouble buying B-stock again as long as I have manufacturer's warranty.

I've owned B-stock items before with no problems. When I was in the A/V business many years ago I would purchase some B-stock projectors & receivers when it was a good buy & a good deal on a good product. The warranty was from the manufacturer & they always checked things out. If a part was bad they would change it out, check it & sell it for less. Sounds like the same as new to me! smile.gif

B-stocks are generally ok, though you might have a higher chance of getting one with bad convergence.
