HOLD THE PHONES:

I just took a quick look at the manual and THERE IS NO NETWORK JACK.

There is no network streaming and no Internet services -- so what is this thing?
Files are loaded to the internal HDD by copying from an external USB HDD or USB connection to a PC.

It's just a self-contained media tank.
Are they kidding?

This might be an old player since there is a forum area at the Western Digital site with posts going back to 2010: http://community.wdc.com/t5/WD-Elements-Play/bd-p/elements_play

This thing is *OLD*. At least 2 years old by my reckoning.

The last firmware was released almost a year ago, and in its life, has only had two updates.

It's an Amlogic-based player similar to the even older WDTV Mini; very underwhelming.
