Some1 near where i live is trying to sell a almost brand new paradigm sub 12 piano finish for 1300$ .. i think it can be sold 2000$+ for brand new , so i think this prce is really good ... but the question is , how is this sub !? is it a good sub ... im planing to use sub for 50% HT and 50% music ...

any1 ever heard that sub !? or own it !?

I don't know personally I wouldn't take it. $1300 could get you some pretty nice options for subs! HSU VTF-15H, PSA XS30 and Rythmik FV15HP with the 550watt amp option all cost less then $1300 and IMO would be better then a Sub 12 from Paradigm.

the fv15hp cost 1818$ to me since im living in canada , but yea thats kinda true i could buy something else for 1300$ ... but the problem for me most of the time is taxes+shipping boosting the price .. frown.gif

It wouldn't cost that much if you get it with 550watt amp option in matte black finish. i don't think shipping and taxes would add up to that much.

big diference between the 600w option or the 550w option!?

That piano black Sub 12 would sell for approx. $2399 new (in the U.S.), so $1300 is a good price if it is in like new condition, especially if it comes with the PBK.

Only about 0.5db of a difference. Nothing to lose any sleep over.

That price is a super good deal if it is like new. I paid $2300 for a new one recently. The piano black finish costs a few hundred more than the ash black.

It's a great sub. Rumbles the room with movies. Sounds good for music too.

It might be a good deal on that sub, but it still has absolutely no performance advantage over any of the subs that I've listed. I'm not trying to rain on anyones parade that might have this sub but you can do a lot better for the money IMO.

No rain on my parade. I know this sub is effing expensive compared to other subs that may perform better, but I wanted it to match my Studio 100 fronts aesthetically biggrin.gif

To the OP..btw, it's the Studio Sub 12, not Signature =) Their Signature Subs are on a completely different level....

I hear yeah, its always nice to have a sub that matches your mains when they're out for everyone to see.
I wouldn't really say the Signature subs are on another level though. Compared to the Studio subs yes, but not compared to any of the subs I've mentioned and defiantly not at over three times the price a Sub 2 would cost over those subs.

Don't get me wrong though, a Signature Sub 2 is sweet looking sub. But there is no way I'm taking even one of them over a Seaton SubMersive HP.

I think you need to do a little more research on this topic. My XS30 will "go lower in HZ" as you put then a Paradigm Sub 12 will.

I have contacted that guy who sell the Sub12 .. so yea 1300+ taxes for the sub12 piano finish ... so like max 1500 for the sub ...

so here is my options :

Sub12 :1500$ i go get it . 20 minute drive
Fv15hp :1818$ shiped at my place
xv30 : 1399$ + shipping + taxes ( dont know the amount , have not contacted them yet )

oh danm i dont know what to do .... im just scared to miss that sub12 deal .... but also scared to be desapointed since i never heard that sub12 play

You could go with a PSA XV15 for under a $1000 shipped to Canada and still have better performance then the Sub 12 IMO.

You're getting up to the price of the SVS SB13 Ultra at $1599, which is what I bought over the Paradigm Sub 12.

i would never spend 1599+ on svs , i would just buy rythmik fv15hp

and btw i cant find the ultra for 1599 like u said ... only 1999$ ... crazy when it get outperform by the 1200$+ fv15hp
post #18 of 20
The SB13 Ultra is a sealed subwoofer, check the compact sub section. Out performed how? Volume or sheer output is not the only subwoofer measurement that is significant......depends on what is most important to you. Read the reviews, customer and professional and decide for yourself.

Personally I think if the OP wanted a compact sub he could go with a F15HP and still save money over a SB13 Ultra.

svs seems a good brand ... actualy way better than many sub brand i know , but i actualy think Rythmik is a class apart ... but that is my personnal thought.

to be honest about the compact sub thing , i really want a compact sub , but compact sub mean low output ported or sealed .... and sealed for me from what i heard so far sounded wierd , well from the subs sealed i heard , u could feel bass but not hear it ...

never heard high output 600rms sealed tho , maybe a diferent thing
