Denon 1913 Surround/ /Speaker selector box

HI all
I think ive got this figured out but wanted to run this by the genius' here smile.gif

We had denon avr-888 which broke , now we are getting the 1913. We had used ZONE 2 with an amp in the pre out on the 888 for our deck speakers and kitchen speakers. Now, I know Im limited with the 1913 with no pre out for zone 2. I m only using 2 front speakers and a center for my family room, which go in the obvious jacks. Now , for the "SURROUND" speakers I want to hook up my kitchen speakers, but dont want them on every time the tv is on. Denon tech said I could hook up a "speaker selector box" to the surround zone for my kitchen , and turn it off by pushing the button . I will be hooking up my deck speakers in the "SURROUND ASSIGN BACK" I wish zone 2 had more speakers jacks frown.gif
It was such a good price at $319 with free shipping I could not afford the 2313 .

Is there any other options here?? thanks and sorry if this sounds so confusing smile.gif

Zone 2 offers the capability of independent volume/source (all be it non-HDMI) so you don't need a speaker selector box, simply connect them to the Surr Back/Amp Assign speaker posts and power on Zone 2 when you need it.

I already am using zone 2 this for my deck speakers.. which leaves me with the regular "SURROUND" in zone 1 for my kitchen. This means whenever kids are watching cartoons with the family room .. I will hear it in the kitchen. I dont want the kitchen sound on ALL the time, hence the speaker selector box idea.

Then yes, to connect two sets of speakers, you would need an "impedance matching speaker selector" as the speakers can only be connected to the Surr Back/Amp Assign posts for Zone 2.

OK..now you can see what I mean

Would this work to control the Kitchen speakers , or rather to flip them off when i dont want to hear them? is this the right kind?

Yes, that is similar to what you need, but NEVER buy Monster products as you're simply paying for a name, rather purchase from forum sponsor Monoprice.
