Came across Pioneer SC 1522K at the Costco in South Seattle for $599.99. Seems like a very good deal. Agree?

Please do call your local store and ask for it. I can't find it on Costco.com either but confirmed at another store by phone.

Can you get a Costco item number? I called a local Costco by me and they don't have any pioneer receivers and the guy asked for the item number like 5 times for reference. I think it's a real good deal and I would like to get myself one... If I can get the Costco item number.

Try 751220.

Thanks... I'll give that a try tomorrow

Saw it at my local Costco today also. San Diego area

Thanks for the item number... turns out there is only 1 store in the entire state of Illinois that has them (and they just got them in today). I picked myself up one. I think this is a GREAT deal as this is the same item as the SC-65 (just missing the Elite label) that people are paying $999.99 for at Best Buy. I can't wait to set it up. Thanks!!

Me too. Got the VSX- 53 but haven't opened it yet. So planning to return it and have the setup with SC - 1522K.

Just got one in Oregon. Came in today. I had an open box vsx-53 ($415) and sc-63 ($660) and returned them both for the 1522. This is a killer deal with a sc-65 at $400 less than Best Buy! Thanks OP!

So are they in the stores only? but just not on line? If they were on line I could get a price match somewhere, but I have not seen it on line anywhere.
In store only. You want to call your local Costco if you are interested and reference the item number listed above.

Just called my local store here in north texas and they just got 16 in.

Hillsboro OR received 16 yesterday as well. Now it's 15 or less 8?)

Just picked up one at the Costco West Sacramento, CA. They started the day at 12 when I called this morning to put one on hold.
Two of my friends each went and picked one up today. By the time I got there at 4:00 they were down to 5. It seems like it's hit or miss as far as which Costco's have them. Thankfully I only had to drive 50 miles to get mine...

I just bought a new Onkyo in January but this was just too good of a deal to pass up...

Now just where to put the Onkyo?... smile.gif

Thanks, OP. I'll pop by the nearest store tomorrow with my fingers crossed.

This would be PERFECT timing for me.

WOW Thanks OP! I called my Costco (Maple Grove, MN) yesterday when they opened and they just got 16 in. 16 seems to be the amt that each store is getting.

I got there around 1pm and they had 14 left. This is an insane deal. I don't think they are going to last very long.

Upgraded my Denon 1910 and this receiver blew it away.

I just saw this model at my local Costco today and was googling around and it led me here. Is this a really strong bang for buck option vs whatever else is out there? Do these models tend to review well and have a long problem free lifetime?
It has 11.2 preouts and 9.2 internal. 11 seems to be that they just hard wired wides and heights. I wish it could do 11.2 with a 2 channel amp.

Even limited to 9.2 I am very tempted to upgrade my Denon 3311 to this instead of holding out for a 4520. If it was 11 capable I would buy 2!

Called my Costco here in Eugene oregon and they got thirteen available. Immediately slapped my pioneer vsx-1021k on c list to try and upgrade!

Perfect timing. I need one receiver too. I checked with my local Costco. They were supposed to get shipment, but has not got them yet. Will wait.
Thanks very much for a good deal.
Killer deal. With Costco warranty you can not go wrong.
Just checked Pioneer website. Costco is not an authorized Pioneer dealer. So no warrenty through Pioneer on this.
Costco has a longer warranty than pioneers bush league 1 yr crap anyways. Assuming this model is one year like my vsx was.
Fellow enthusiasts, This seems to be like a good receiver.

Can some one help me understand/suggest -- If this would be a logical upgrade from a perfectly working 6 yr old Denon 3808CI?

Thank you for your help in advance.

I would say yes based upon a comparision of feature sets and cost of the Pioneer. BTW have you checked to see if Costco has the units in Houston?
Just an FYI to those considering this unit. I can't get it to play nice with my PS3 when connected through hdmi. No AV signal. I swapped out my first unit thinking it might be a lemon. The 2nd unit is the same. Apparently there has been long known handshake issue specific to ps3 and pioneer.

I am now running my ps3 output directly to tv and use the tv's audio out thru optical cable to the pioneer. Not ideal but it's a work around until I find a suitable replacement avr.

Otherwise it's a very capable AVR. If anyone knows a fix for the issue please let me know. I will be very much in your debt.
