I picked up one this weekend also, havent set it up yet though. I've previously owned a Pioneer Sc07 and replaced a 3808 with it. Power wise, comparing to the 3808, hometheater.com lab results state they're about the same. I found that the sc07 provided more impact and crispness to music and movies. I don't believe it EQ'ed the sub, but found the low end to be acceptable. I always attributed the sound difference to MCACC vs Auddyssey rather then the amps itself. I'm not much of a believer in different amps coloring sound, so that might be why i gave mcacc the credit. I no longer possess the sc07, and currently use the 3808. I have a concern that i'll be disappointed by the 1522 due to the lab measures of ht.com on the sc-68, the pioneer has 20 less watts per channel w/ 5 channels driven versus the 3808. I'll see how things are when they're hooked up. I have some jbl l890's and lc2, that are relatively power hungry, so i'll see how it goes.
3808 and sc07 was measured at about 120 watts per channel - 5 channels driven
sc 68 was 92 at 5 channels driven.
