They said because another guy came from New York and bought two today.

I am thinking of buying more and move them on ebay.
I think the East Coast got the shipments. It appears that each store was getting only about 15 each and given the # of Costco stores to population it serves, they sold very quickly (especially since they were being sold at about 1/3 of retail). Another member mentioned that when he got his, there were about 12 left. When I bought mine at the same store about a week later, there were only 2 remaining after I got mine. I stopped in yesterday out of curiosity, and the were completely gone. So I'm guessing many locations sold-out within a few days.

I was thinking of doing something with ebay as well, that is if I can ever get just one for myself in central Iowa.

But along with my thinking I did some math:

$599.99 + 6% sales tax = $635.99 out the door at Coscto

Average selling price on ebay this month = $746.27 (shipping included)

$746.27 - 9% ebay fees = $679.11
- 3% paypal fees = $656.72

That leaves $20.73 to cover your shipping costs, handling, time, etc.

Where's the profit, and the point in moving them on ebay right now?

Now if you can get the sales price up into the $800 range or more, maybe then it's a different story.

I went to Best Buy and told them to return the SC-65 I was supposed to pick up. My parents picked up a SC-1522-K for me on their way back from FL to MN. They will be back in MN on Saturday.cool.gif

I hope you're going to take your parents out to dinner for the $1000 they just saved you, or least treat them to a nice movie experience at home with the new goods.

So far so good, though I haven't done much more than hook it up and run the calibration.

funny, I plan on going today to the Waltham Costco, and I am looking to replace my 3806ci/Parasound HCA-1205A combo.

What are your thoughts so far on it compared to your Denon?

I'm wondering how the "Class D3 Amplification" will sound compared to my HCA-1205A...

Boise Idaho doesn't have them yet but the Nampa store just got 15 in today. Don't know if there are other idahoans looking for these but I'm picking mine up tomorrow!

Picked up mine today at the local Costco by my house (San Diego area) They had two pallets of them smile.gif

I have it hooked up a pair of Pioneer's SP-BS22-LR and a SP-C22 for the center. I have a crappy set of Jensen's bookshelves for the rears. Once the SP-FS52's go on sale I will swap them out for the fronts and kick the Jensen's to the curb. Subwoofers I am looking are the HSU STF-2 or the VTF-1 MK2.

Well anyone in Richmond, VA is going to be SOL. Richmond will not be getting any based on what 2 different clerks told me today.

That item #751220 (the Pioneer) has been replaced in the system for this area with a new item # which happens to be a Yamaha receiver for $499. I did not get the item # or model # as I am not interested in anything Yamaha.

Both clerks stated there store was supposed to get the Pioneer but due to availability issues it has been replaced by the Yamaha which is scheduled to arrive next week.

Is there a kind soul out there with access to these who is willing to ship me one with the receipt?

LMK

Thanks

Greg

Grabbed one of the 12 left in San Dimas, CA. I checked my local Costco's and those that had the 1522K now have a Yamaha #4065 for $290 (if I remember correctly). Looks like this great deal is nearing the end.

I have been bugging my wife with what a great deal this is. Yesterday she came home from work and told me to unload something from the back of her car. I opened the trunk to see my new SC-1522-k!!!! Hooked it up this morning, love the new features over my couple year old Pioneer Elite VSX-23TXH. Favorite feature is the HDMI passthrough, now my daughter can watch My Little Pony all day without putting wear on my entire home theater system!!!!

OK,...I'm one that missed the B&H deal ($599) by an hour for the Onkyo 818 - it killed me. Having said that, I, like many others, have been waiting for a similar deal to come around. Those of you who are fairly intimate and knowledgeable about the 818 can likely steer me one way or the other. I know that some folks are not proponents of Class D3 amplifiers. Pioneer appears to have convinced a number of audiophiles and its end users that it has designed a very stout product using this design. This unit has received nothing short of rave reviews. As you likely know, it's the counter-part of Pioneer's Elite SC-65 (same components etc. - except 1522 comes with 1 yr. warranty while the SC-65 comes with a 2 yr. warranty).

The question arises: Does the 818 stand that tall over the SC-1522 to merit the cost difference of $200? Or, is it a push? I would very much like to listen some opinions.

How are you liking the Pioneer speakers? I must admit to being very close to trying out the whole set, minus the subwoofer, anyway.

Costco in West Springfield, MA has about 10 in stock. Just swung by yesterday and picked one up. Can't wait to set it up and see how it performs.

What is Costco's return policy for this item?
There were 6 of these on the floor of the Davie, Florida Costco. Maybe more stored elsewhere.
Miami stores don't have them yet confused.gif

Got mine today at the Danville, Ca Costco. 15 yesterday, today when I bought mine, mid afternoon only 7 were left!
Livermore, Ca Costco had 16 about a week ago. Not sure what their stock is today. You can call the store but do not expect to have them tell you the
price over the phone.

Have you looked at the 818 thread?
If the common issues listed do not bother you, then it might be.
The biggest difference is the sub EQ in x32 for the 818.
If you have a sub that does this already or already have a sub eq, then save $200.

The biggest difference in sound comes from your speakers and room, not really what electronics you have.
Sure if you are lucky some EQ may make poor rooms and speakers sound tolerable, but it won't be better than having better speakers and a tamed room.

Saw about 6 or 7 on 4/11 in Costco, Mettawa, IL. Did not give it any thought at that time, but came back and did some research and holy cow, this was the equivalent of SC-65 and bumped into this AVS forum thread. Went back on Saturday around 11 Am with some hopes as this Costco is away from major suburbs and I might get lucky - ALL GONE, Just like that !!! The guy said, people drove from Indiana, Wisconsin, southern IL just to get his AVR.

For anyone in the NJ/NY area, the Edison store has them in stock as of 4/14/2013.

Having used both (and or related models) I'd gladly return the Pioneer and swap for the Onkyo TX-NR818. It's only $100 more and well worth it (for me).

Bootman- Thanks. I'm not sure what the "sub EQ in x32" actually means or does. I have a 5.1 B&W speaker system that has a stand alone M&K THX subwoofer. Given this, would I likely need the "sub EQ in x32" or would the SC-1522 provide me with what I need for high end quality audio?

So,...I don't misunderstand you; you would definitely go with the 818 for the additional $100-$150?

Me? Yes. You? Who knows... compare the features and go with what works for you. Which is outside the scoop of this thread...

To say it is only $100 different in price is unfair. If you want to use 9 speakers it is $100 + $200 (50 watt x 2 channel amp) = $300 difference. I am considering the Onkyo as well, as I have Denon 3311 and would like Neo:x and 9 channels.

My debate is about MultiEQ XT32 and MCACC. Other tan sub, how many points does each have for the mains and for the surrounds?

I'm not sure what your math relates to. Yes, the MultiEQ XT32 is purported to be the best, hands down. But, as you likely know from reading this thread and others, MCACC has gained quite a bit of popularity and praise, as well. I was simply asking if the SC-1522 is a close equal to the 818 for audio quality and if the SC-1522 was worth jumping on now rather than hoping for the 818 to drop in price.
