Went back on Saturday around 11 Am with some hopes as this Costco is away from major suburbs and I might get lucky - ALL GONE, Just like that !!! The guy said, people drove from Indiana, Wisconsin, southern IL just to get his AVR.

if you are so inclined, give the Costco in Naperville a call. They might have some left? I haven't called lately but they had 13 or so according to the last person who bought them last week

But, as you likely know from reading this thread and others, MCACC has gained quite a bit of popularity and praise, as well. I was simply asking if the SC-1522 is a close equal to the 818 for audio quality and if the SC-1522 was worth jumping on now rather than hoping for the 818 to drop in price.

My comments were to the person who stated that there was only a $100 difference. It is a bigger financial difference than that. $300 would be my guess. That is what my math related to.

I think this is a great deal on the SC-1522.

I think that the 818 with an amp to get 9 channels is better, but that is just my opinion. Is it $300 - 400 better.... I would suspect not.

So I think that either way, you really will be happy though.

Only one left in Naperville, just picked up the second to last. I have the 1222k now and bought that for the same price as the 1522k!

one left which means the display or display plus one more? (did you also confirm with the stock guys?)

I got a buddy on the fence on this and after demo-ing this to him, it was apparent that the level of power and detail compared to the vsx03 is apparent enough to warrant a buy for him (they're just driving some run of the mill RTi8s for now playing some COD and the Bluray version of Band of Brothers.

I've never heard my speakers like I hear them now. Awesome, now I gotta finish the basement.

for those looking in the IL area, I confirmed as of 1:30PM today that there are only 2 left in the Naperville store (according to their computer system)

one would be in box still while the other is most likely the display unit

I picked up my SC-1522-k at the Costco in Glendale, AZ about 12 days ago. They had 10 available at the time. Several other stores in the Phoenix Metro area had up to 16 units as well. I live 5 hours east of Glendale, so I was sooooooo happy I had business in the area because I was able to get mileage reimbursement from my company for the trip in to the Phoenix area. Woohoo!

I get my audio cabinet on Tuesday, so I'm chomping at the bit to get my gear installed in it! I probably don't need everything this receiver does, but for the money I don't think there's a better deal out there. However, I'm not in it to flip these on Ebay in an attempt make a profit on them like some folks. Truthfully, Costco should limit the purchase of these receivers to two per member. Spread the joy!

How are those that have set up the receiver liking it?

Awesome. I can't wait to get mine up and running. Going to run 5.1 in living room, zone 2 for kitchen, and zone three for daughters room.

I'm loving mine though I don't normally get much time to work on getting it fully setup. My next project for it will be running wire to get it on the web. That will be running wire from the NID (Telephone box on the side of the house) into the basement at a good position to let me run cat6 from my DSL connection to the TV and to a PC. After that will be running network cable to a couple PC's with my second PC running wireless. I prefer wired for the receiver and for other AV equipment for better performance.

Thoughts on how these compare to the Elite VSX 52?

I upgraded from an Elite VSX52-TX and both my wife and I noticed a positive difference in going to the 1522. I was watching Star Wars blu-ray and didn't notice much of a difference in the sound between DVD & Blu-Ray on the VSX52-TX.
However, when I rewatched the SW Blu-Ray on the 1522 and taking full advantage of the DTS-MA (instead of DTS-Core) I was taken away at the difference. The VSX52 has great sound, but I feel that the 1522K was able to bring even more out of my speakers (JBL Northride and Bose for the back rears) since it can decode the HD audio tracks and I can finally fully take advantage of my 7.1 setup without the receiver "faking" in those channels.

Granted, the VSX52-TX doesn't have HDMI and is 6.1, while the VSX52 has HDMI and is 7.1, so that alone may lessen the noticeable improvements that you may have but I did.

I'm surprised no one has commented about the remote control being an "international" version. Mine (purchased at the Costco on Mathews, NC) has Asian characters. I printed the remote layout from the manual to configure the receiver.

Anyone else?

I love mine as well.

I only have LCR+sub setup and coming back down and playing some MW3 is spectacular. The sound jump, for me, is like going from 720p on a 110" screen to 1080p on the same screen. the clarity is noticable and worth the upgrade. (from vsx03 to 1522

My remote also has regular ole ABCs. I suppose you can call Pioneer to get a replacement?

Mines in English also. Sounds like you got an odd ball out....
Just chiming in on the 'Mine's English, too.' bandwagon. Though it went right back into the plastic and into the box as soon as I got it on the network. The iControlAV2012 app is phenomenal on Android. My only wish would be for a widget.

Folks - Few Illinois Costco are having the SC-1522K in stock again. Naperville has about 6 and Mettawa got 9 today (minus 1 smile.gif ). If you don't mind the weather rush before they are all gone.

Love it. Especially the powered Zone 2/3. Ended up installing some in-ceiling speakers in the master bedroom, main living room and some indoor/outdoor speakers under the eves on the deck. Have everything hooked up through a speaker selector switch ran off of Zone 2. This thing rocks. Also ran a 2nd HDMI cable from the receiver to the Master Bedroom TV so we can watch movies in both rooms at the same time and with Zone 2 audio to the in-ceiling bedroom speakers.

Anyone have the MHL Connection working with an Android Phone? My video feed is doubled/overlapped and very odd.

Love mine. speakers sound different.
Love mine and it is the exact same internals as the Elite SC-65! The Livermore, CA Costco had two left plus the display at about 2pm. PDT today.
I got one today, hooray for good deals. Concord, CA there has been a couple the last few days. Antioch, CA doesn't have any. Now I just need some speakers. I'm planning on a MartinLogan motion system. Not sure what sub would sound good. Looking for something around 300-500.
