I need to make a decision here. My absolute budget is $700. This TV is for general purpose upstairs and is not going to my movie room. Want a 50 to 55 inch and would like to stay with 120HZ. The LG 55LS4500 is about to be discontinued and is presently heavily discounted and will probably go out of stock forever this weekend. The Vizio E500i-a1 is whats called a core model and will be around a while just under my price limit. No pressure to buy this weekend if I go the Vizio model. Plasma is out, I am at 8000 feet. I do not see a really good reason for LED backlit or edge lit if I can save a lot of money and gets the same picture quality. Anyone have any thoughts on the need for LED? Seems like all TV’s in this price range have there problems. Both the LG and Vizio seem to have no control over Trumotion/anti-judder and confusion over whether it exists. The Vizio has wifi and the LG does not. The Vizo is true LED backlit where I believe the LG is edge lit. The LG is larger (55”) and is $70 dollars cheaper, but must be purchased this weekend.
Has anyone compared these to see which has the best picture? With a 5 min comparison at the store I just cannot tell much difference. Anyone have any important thoughts over which one I should buy or is it just a toss up. Should I just go back into hiding for a couple of months (about as long as I can wait) and see if anything else turns up? Not sure if there will be more discounts of 2012 models? The Vizio will still be there if I wait.
