Buying advice

Hello there.

New here and new to camcorders.

I'm about to buy one now, to film the family and family events.

Since I'm new to this I have no idea what to look for.

I've tried to watch some reviews and testvideos on Youtube and read some tests.

I've checked the local stores in my town what they have in stock. My budget is ~$200-$700 and I've found two different camcorders. One cheaper then the other, but I'd have no problem going with the more expensive one if it's worth it.

What I've found is.

The Panasonic HC-V500 for ~$415
Or SONY HDRCX570E for $723

I don't know if the price here is right. I live in Sweden and I've used a converter to get the correct $ for what it costs here.

I'm sorry I don't have good links for them. Hopefully you know something about these camcorders and can give me some advice.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum! I enjoyed visiting your country as a tourist a couple years ago. I wish I had owned a better camera at the time!

It is hard to be accurate as there is no official poll. But, I think the three most popular cameras that take video on this forum now are all made by Panasonic. I suggest you read the threads on the HVC-V720, the FZ200 and LX7.

That is not to say that the Sony you picked out has anything wrong with it.
