SiriusXM Lynx "Stuttering"

Hey all!

Got a SiriusXM Lynx to replace my old Sirius unit and have been mostly pleased with the new unit. Lots of interesting features. Unfortunately, a couple of days ago, my unit began "stuttering" when playing. It would stop playing, seem to freeze up, and stutter whatever was being played.

After this starts, the unit will sometimes figure out that something is wrong and drop back to the homescreen. Here, the "Satellite" logo will flash, but never go back to playing. Even after powercycling, the unit seems to be stuck. This seems to be a vehicle dock only problem, I don't recall having this happen while connected to the Internet.

So, has anyone else experienced the problem? Any ideas on where the problem might be? I wonder if there may be a problem with the dock, but wondered if anyone else has experienced this.

TIA!
Jason

I have older tuners and listen to SiriusXM regularly in the car and I haven't had any stuttering at all so it sounds like it's either the units themselves or a firmware issue. It may be worth calling SiriusXM to report the problem.

Of course you'll probably have to deal with the script person:
"Have you tried turning it off and on again?"

Update......i did a reset on the unit. Sadly everything i had saved was deleted. Then i refreshed my signal. It has worked perfectly all day with no issue. So hopefully it stays that way

Hi there-

We contacted our engineers and product team, did you do the latest update? Also, if it's in a car dock we would suspect a power issue- loose/bad CLA or bad dock connection to radio.

If you need further assistance, please send us an email with your contact information to SXM_help@siriusxm.com, so we can help.

Hey guys! Thanks for the posts. In short, the problem seemed to be hardware and the unit was exchanged per customer support. I didn't like the solution since it probably cost me another swap on my lifetime sub...only time will tell.

Long story:

About a week after getting the unit, it began "skipping". This is the best I can describe the problem. What it was doing was replaying a frame of whatever was playing over and over in fast succession. The channel controls were also locked up, so nothing really responded on the screen. The buttons sort of worked, but dropping out to the homescreen didn't stop or fix the problem. Resetting the unit (battery pull) fixed the problem for about 2 minutes. Resetting the unit (Factory Reset) fixed the problem for MAYBE half a day. The problems got progressively worse until the satellite player was mostly unusable.

For about another week, the Internet player worked fine, but then the WiFi started displaying "Error". Once that happened, resetting the unit rendered it useless. Black screen and totally unresponsive.

At that point, I phoned Customer Support. It took a couple of times to get to the issue (sorry, there was a communication gap), but once they understood, they advised that I return the unit to the retailer and get a new one. I did that (and purchased the protection plan). New unit hasn't had any problems and I've had it about a week.

So...I'm concerned that there might be a hardware issue here. Obviously SOMETHING was wrong with the unit. I do hope the engineers keep an eye out for the unit and check it out. I can provide my Account Info, contact me thru PM or email for more info.

Thanks for the help!

Hi, I am having the same issue. I got my lynx about a week ago and it stutters, won't find the saignal, audio turns off, etc. I got the unit from amazon warehouse deals though and it was used. I did the firmware update and calles sirius xm for them to troubleshoot and it still doesnt seem to work right. You purchased a new one after your problem and havent had any issues with it still? Please let me know! Thank you

Yes, mine is less than 6 months old, exactly same problems!  How did you fix it.   Seems such a waste of money to go bad so quick!!  I take good care of mine and didn't use it that often.

Hi. I returned it and purchased on directly from sirius xm. Even if it's refurbished it'll work good if you get it from sirius xm
