If you don't have any assumptions/guess already, you'll be waiting till mid-October where news hits the mainstream. rumors > leaks > forum > tech news > mainstream news
If the logic is based on following "the PS3 did not do better with multi-platforms, therefore the PS4 won't either" it would be flawed, since the architecture differences of the PS3 & 360 are apples and oranges.
What Spyder is saying, and you have to look at what he is saying pragmatically, is because the architecture is identical this time, the better hardware will perform better, there is no reason for it not to
. There's no grand scheme or conspiracy theory and secret handshakes. DICE is not going to purposefully spend 1000s of man hours dumming down
the graphics for the PS4 code so it looks worse than it will simply by default. Spyder was saying the architeture is identical, which means you could take both consoles, rip out the proprietary OS software, install Windows 7 and BF4 on both, and the one with 7GB GDDR5 RAM and the Radeon 7870 GPU is going to be better over the console with 5GB GDDR3 RAM and Radeon 7790 GPU. "Which is better, faster or slower? It's not that complicated." (AT&T commercial showing how kids can point to faster)
This is AVS, which means tech matters, and the best tech is the PS4, that is not speculation. "The PS4 controller will feel better in your hands because of the redesign" is speculation that I won't stand behind as of now.
Only problem is, the stand-alone console is ONLY available in-store at gamestop for pre-order, and they will eventually run out. You can pre-order a bundle with games currently online, but it is pure speculation from the employees as to how long they are available. If you don't want to trade in your consoles yet
the best advice is to put $100 down to reserve a pre-order and DO NOT renew/buy PUR Pro until you are ready to use the 50% extra trade-in coupon, as the coupon expires after 60 days, which means you could not have a console for months leading up to release.
My brother also loathes the PS3 controller; he is not a fanboy of anything. I sent him this article, for what it's worth. I fully admit it is speculation as to if you can enjoy an updated controller. The value to all of us is still speculation on most of the changes and news from the new consoles.
