The Sandlot 20th Anniversary Edition

I just started watching this on blu ray and it looks and sounds very good. The picture is really sharp and the DTS-HD Master track sounds equally as good. At first I was expecting poor quality because the title menu is over sharpened and grainy, but I'm very satisfied with the film. So far it's exactly what I was hoping for. The packaging failed to list two bonus items contained in the case. There is a 10% off coupon for PF Flyers and a small deck of cards that has, I assume, all nine of the kids on each card.

The bottom line is the quality of the master is pretty good and for such a classic movie and a great musical score, it's definitely worth considering. I was more than happy when I found my local Wal-Mart had it for $9.96 - almost a steal!

Thanks, I didn't know this was out/coming out! Never bought the original Blu-ray, so I just placed an order for this! smile.gif

I've got the original Blu-ray and it is very "sharp" as well thanks to the edge enhancement. I'd be surprised if this transfer were any different given the specs of the two discs. It's still a tremendous leap over the DVD, but it's got its flaws.

The "Pops" drive me nuts during the movie. No doubt it's meant to be bubble gum popping, but it sounds so fake! Ralph just put up an official review, he says it's the same transfer.

I've been meaning to watch this lately. So the verdict is that the new edition is identical in content and quality to the original release?

That's what Ralph said in his "Official Review."
