Just got a set of Polks - Need advice

Hi Everyone,

I just acquired a pair of Polk Monitor 40's and a pair of Polk RTi4's from Craigslist. I was intending to use the one of the sets for my office, however I realized that these are probably much better than the Jamo 406 (BIC V1220 sub) set that I have in my media room.

I'm wondering what I should do: Would it be better to replace the Jamo set in my media room using the Monitor 40's as the mains and the RTi's as surrounds. I would also have to purchase a Polk center (CSi). My room size is 11x16x8ft (the RTi's *might* be a bit big for surrounds)Then find something else for my office. Or, just use either the RTi's or the Monitors for the office and keep my current Jamo setup in my media room.

Thanks!

The best way for you to answer your own questions is to experiment. Try the speakers out in your room and then swap them around to see which ones sound best in which positions.

I'm thinking the RTi's will sound pretty darn good.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes I've did a bit of A-B testing and the Monitor 40's are definitely brighter than the Jamo's (can be a bit harsh on the ears at times). The RTi's don't sound too great (really thin), not sure if they're damaged or if its an equalization thing, the Monitors are definitely fuller sounding.

What I might do, is keep my Jamo surrounds, and use the Monitor 40's as mains. I would then like to replace the center channel with another Polk to keep the timbre the same.

Any recommendations on a Polk center? Used is OK with me, but I would like to spend under $100 (preferably $50 - $75 used).

I'll then use the RTi's in my office as my main speakers (2 channel setup). These will be hooked up to my computer, any recommendations on a small 2 channel amp to drive them?

The CS2 is recommended for a center. I'm not sure what 2ch amp to go with.

Check out Polk Audio Direct on eBay, Some very good buys there. It is sort of Polk's close out center/outlet.
