I'm thinking of buying an emotiva amp to power up my front 3 speakers, and I am hoping I do not run into the same problem. Let us know if you figure out what's wrong.

Are you using a Mono connector with the 12 volt trigger. The Mono and stereo cables look similar. If you are using a stereo cable(most are stereo) this could cause a problem. If you are using the one that came with the Emotiva it has to be something else.

This is the cable you need.

If you read the Amazon review the person used this cable for a trigger with no problem.

Emotiva also sells the following box that comes with 4 mono cables. It may be a better buy than just buying the cables for some users.

I still have to check the current firmware. I assumed the since it is a used unit, the firmware was already installed (but you know what they say about assuming, makes an ass of just me). I'm pretty sure it is a mono cable, I'll double check and also order the one in the link..

As far as using a Emotiva amp with the 1522. It sounds really nice with my Energy C-9s. Very clear and airy at -5-0 on the volume knob. Not fatiguing for longer periods of time. I don't think it's needed, but it sure doesn't hurt.biggrin.gif

Thanks for the help guys.

I am also using an older 7x1 Emotiva amp and it does sound better to me than the one built into the Pioneer.

Cables can make a difference; had a new mono audio 3.5mm cable that turned out to be bad. It had continuity but must have been a defect of some sort.

Same here. Running a LPA-1, and I do like the pair.

Just ordered some new cables. Hopefully that's the problem.

Now I get what you are saying. Turned on the Pioneer 1522. Clicked NET until MEDIA SERVER was displayed. Went to my PC, and found the balloon "new device found 1522". Opened that up, and clicked MOUNT. My browser opend up to the address of the 1522, viola, set up (like you said). redface.gif)

Next I went to enable the "Playing back audio files stored on components on the network" (p. 62 of manual). Opened Media Player 11 (I'm running XP), clicked drop down from "Library", then clicked "Media Sharing...". That window sort of froze up, nothing... Tried it a few times, nothing. Then I looked for help on the web. Found this bit of advice:

1. Open Control Panel.

2. Open Administrative Tools.

3. Open Services.

4. Find Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service in the list and open it up.

5. Select Automatic for the Startup type. Click Apply.

6. Click the Start button and click OK.

Once I did that, clicking "Media Sharing..." then showed the 1522 device icon. Selectected that, and clicked "Allow". All was good in the world. redface.gif)

You seem to have gone through more trouble than I suggested.

Your router should assign a DCHP address to the SC-1522. Something like 192.168.1.123 (this is just an example - your router may have a different address scheme). You can determine the assigned DCHP address from the SC-1522 display. The HOME menu will have a section for NETWORK DATA that will display your Pioneer's DCHP address.

I suggested that you determine that address, and then type it into a browser url address bar (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox). That should open up the SC-1522 internal web page on your computer where you can choose the Pandora selection and type in your Pandora name and Password. There are a few other settings that you can make on that internal web as well.

Actually pretty simple....I added the page to favorites already, so don't need to type in anything in the future. Thanks though.

I FINALLY GOT AIRPLAY TO WORK! WOO HOO! Soooo easy. It was the wifi gateway that Xfinity gave us initially. SO, I'm going to type the info below incase anyone else has Xfinity and the same airplay issue. Basically, everything worked, the SC was connected to the network, just no airplay. We had a wifigateway/router made by SMC networks. We switched that out with a ARRIS gateway, and airplay works.

Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to help me out, its frustrating that at the end of the day you all took the time to help and it was simply one piece of equipment hating the other. Thank you again, GREAT forum.

@grpape

I can confirm that 1522's 12V trigger works fine with my Emotiva UPA-2. The cable is from Emotiva. I like this combo better than using the Pioneer's amp for my music only 2.1 setup.

Is anyone using an Emotiva XPA-3 with this receiver and Pold Audio speakers?

I'm thinking of buying the XPA-3 to drive my Monitor 70 Series II and 25C, but I'm not sure if it will be worth it?

My wife just picked the last one up from Costco Carlsbad for $459.99. Sometimes it's better to be slow but lucky! (Not often though.)
Good job to both buyers, you'll love it. Wonder how many more exist at Costco nationwide?
Well I spoke to a costco representative here in Los Angeles... he told me all those receivers are no longer being sold in our area, that they were going back to the manufacturer as "unsaleable merchandise"

Really blows for me, always late to these things

I'm trying to access Pandora for the first time. I have ensured I updated to the latest firmware via USB. Every time I painstakingly put my username and password it, it says it is invalid. I'm logging into Pandora on my laptop just fine with that username and password. Any ideas?
@Ace2377

Pandora question was already answered in this thread previously. The easiest way is to connect your computing device to the same network, then enter the Pioneer's IP address in the web browser of your computing device. You would then see the option to enter Pandora information in the Pioneer Web page. That really saved me lots of time.

I had the same issue with the same invalid issue before, then I figured out it was due to the difference between "-" vs "_".

Thank you for the response, I figured out that wasn't it at all. I didn't realize that it accepts upper and lower case. It took so long just to scroll through the set of uppers, then it went to some characters, I never imagined there would be a set of lowers after it. But, went through and entered them all in lower case and that was it.

Just ordered some new cables. I also have another 1522 coming from Amazon. The first one was pretty dusty and had cat fur all over it. Hopefully this one works.cool.gif

I made the same mistake about twice with the lower case in my password. Really a pita to use the remote. Using a browser from your PC is much easier. This isn't covered well in the manual, but is briefly mentioned on p. 75.

I gotta say the 1522 wireless networking functionality is very disappointing. I have found very inconsistent AirPlay, Pandora, and Internet Radio Stations functionality with the 1522. This maybe a networking issue rather than a receiver issue, howeve based on my research it seems hundreds are complaining about these issues. One can look at the extremely overpriced Pionner Wireless dongle on Amazon and look at the customer feedback section to see this product has some wireless issues. I find the receiver has to be turned off and on to get AirPlay capability. Using the Reciever's IP Address to enter Pandora log in information works clever and I thank the forum members for sharing this work around instead of the extremely painful process of trying to do this on the receivers GUI.

I can not figure out why my Internet Radio and Pandora lock up when I pull them up - I'm unable to select anything yet it says I'm clearly loged into Pandor. I know there are a lot of people who really like this product on this thread but I must say getting this receiver to work ideally has been a real chore and with all the inconsitancies in working performance it may have to go back to Costco because I want something that works 100% of the time and I'm not getting that in this case. If there is something I'm doing wrong I would sure appreciate some advice???
It's got to be your wireless hub or something else, mine works fine most of the time. Where did your research turn up " hundreds"?

Anyone know how to use the iPhone/Android app to repeat or shuffle music? Don't see those options anywhere...

The vsx app in the play store has this functionality. But you lose others with it. That being said each has its place and I keep both on my phone.

Never had any issues with my 1522. Works every time I use it. However, I do not use wireless.

Same here. Most of those problems can be attributed to (1) the specific router used (many of them can't properly handle DLNA or AirPlay traffic without block or drop the traffic) (2) unreliability of wireless networking at home. I use MoCA networking for all my HT devices. Never had networking problem.
I've used the network features a number of times without any issue, but I'm also hardwired into the network. Wireless networking can be funny at times, and can be affected by a number of different things. I know on my laptop, I can be about 20 feet from the router (router is in a media closet on top shelf in the same room) and have a 5 Mbps and then if I move a few feet, I will have a 144 Mbps connection. If you have a laptop with wireless, I would suggest that you move to the approximate location where your receiver is and use the the Local Area Connection Status menu in Windows to see what speed you're getting and what type of signal you have.

To those having wireless issues with this receiver, is your receiver in a rack unit? And how far away from your router are you? (1 floor, 2 floors, through brick/concrete?)

I also get very consistent network functionality with a wired connection.
