Well, after a week of playing around in the setup, I almost have the sound in this beast where I want it. I tried MCACC, but I wasn't thrilled with the results, so I went with a manual setup. I may give MCACC another try soon.
Here are a couple of "quirks" I'm noticing compared to my Yamaha Aventage, and I'm wondering if these issues can be resolved:
First, I'm noticing a lot of volume fluctuation between different TV channels and/or sources. I'm reaching for the remote quite a bit to adjust the volume because of this. Is there any fix to this?
Second, I noticed that dialogue and other mid to high frequencies sound a bit "tinny" to me. I adjusted the X-Curve to -1.0 db and made some other changes, and it's way better, but not quite perfect. Any other ideas?
Problem #3 is I have the receiver connected to a "green" power outlet that I turn off every night, cutting power to the receiver. I'm noticing that this is resetting some settings in the receiver, particularly the video stream smoother, and the finger EQ, bass and dialogue settings in the iControl 2012 app. I found these tools to be very helpful in refining the sound, so it would be very annoying to have to deal with adjusting these settings every day. Is there any way to permanently save these settings, or do I have to always keep the receiver on? Are these settings available within the receiver or are these tools "extras" found in the iControl app?
Thank for any info. This thread has been tremendously helpful. This is a very nice receiver, but it has required A LOT of work to get it right.
