Own Lores for past 6 months.
I read that "perfect bass" article some time ago.
Now, if I were smart----I'd be rich (not the case)
So, I need some help here from my esteemed fellow AVS member, smarter than me.
I am unable to find a definiton of "2pi frequency response curve" anywhere on the net. Anybody out there have an explanation of 2pi?
I neither listen to speakers from a near-field 3 inch distance, nor inside an anechoic chamber. I have a fairly average listing room, plagued with all possible accoustic flaws.
Given that, I resort to MCACC room equalization, using a Pio 91-THX, feeding the front mains pre-amp outs to an Integra ADM 2.1 2 channel power amp.
So, running in pure 2.0 mode, after running MCACC, the equalization values I got were as follows:
Values listed from left to right: Frequency--Left Channel, Right Channel---
Note to all not familiar with mcacc: These are not speaker response curves----these values represent the adjustment the calibration program made
to compensate for speaker in-room-response.
63 +6, +5.5
125 +2, -5.5
250 +1, +.5
500 -5.5, -1.5
1000 -3.5, -4.0
2000 +2.5, +4.5
4000 -3.0, -2.5
8000 0.0, 0.0
16000 +.5, +2.5
BTW: The improvement of the sound of the Lores, after applying the MCACC room equalization was jaw-dropping. Spectacular--freaking amazing---makes you want to get rid of your subs, and then some.
I hate it when real life just sucks.Anybody want a mini-review of my Lores, comparing them to a pair of 1996 vintage $600.00 pair Fried Q-5's ??????Spoiler Alert:
I used to disconnect the speaker wires from my center channel.---Then plant a visiting HIFI geek in my sweet spot listening chair. Play (wait for review) track x, and make visiting listener a bet: Is that center channel playing, or not, for $100? They all bet me that the center, was, in fact, playing. They were all proven wrong, and lost their coin.
All of this, while playing the 1996 Frieds.
Sorry, the link to their Stereophile review just went dead. There is a link to some guy's site, trying to keep the Legend of the late Bud Fied alive. http://www.friedproducts.com/
Funny--how these look like Zu's, or even, maybe Pendragons???
Anyway, I no longer make those bets, since I have the Lores.Edited by hidesertrat - 6/29/13 at 12:14pm
