You are trying to do "timeshifting" while you watch a program and record that program at the same time.
I guess the answer is..... don't do that. Just watch the program after it's been recorded. Which I would think is what most people do.
I find it annoying that I can not watch and record at the same time and hit the pause button to pause the recording. Which would be editing/cropping on the fly. I learned I can't do that. So, I don't try. I just edit/crop the recording afterwards.
It Seems... We can't all have what we might conceive to be the perfect PVR. And... Pay less than $50 for it.
No, you've got this very backwards. This is not at all about seeing a feature differently. This is about them TAKING A FEATURE AWAY that used to exist. And you've also got backwards that "You are trying to do "timeshifting" while you watch a program and record that program at the same time." That is exactly what I am not trying to do but it is forcing me to do. What I am trying to do is play the recording by pressing Play, not timeshift by pressing Pause.
Prior to this new firmware and remote you could choose to play a recording while you recorded it. You could also choose to timeshift while you recorded. Now you can only do the second and not the first. They made the Play and Pause buttons the same. So when I hit Play (in order to play), it decides there is no Play button on the remote at all at that moment and that I can only hit Pause. That is a step backwards and we should have a choice in the matter like we always have since this box first existed.
This is a feature that has been there since the beginning, has always worked without causing problems, and that many people do use. It is a very common and expected feature. They took this feature away for no reason and without even telling us they were doing so. That is a legitimate complaint and is not at all seeing a feature differently. And it's not seeing a problem differently either since it was never a problem until they made it one by taking it away. They didn't solve any problem - they caused one.
The price of the box has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on iview removing working features that the original box came with from the beginning. I can't believe you even brought that up in this context.
Now it's not the most important feature on the box but that's no reason to be taking working features away that are commonly used and that removing serves no purpose. And I would hope that when Evelyn asks for feedback she's not just asking us to tell her how wonderful everything is and to thank her for doing things that we don't like. I hope she wants honest feedback and wants to know when customers don't like iview removing features. I specifically wrote my post in response to her asking for feedback on the new firmware and remote. This is a change in the new firmware and new remote - a problem that did not ever exist before. What good does it do for us all to keep quiet about things like this and just accept it without speaking up? That does no good at all of course. I gave my feedback as she requested. I don't need to be admonished by you for doing so. It's not the end of the world that they removed this feature but I still have a right to speak up and say that I don't like it. That's all I did.
Also, I already made an entire post before yours saying I would no longer try to play while recording because of this, so your writing a post telling me not to do so is ignorant, arrogant, and patronizing.
