I will second that!
If iview could just fix the recording timers - a simple firmware fix - I could live with the other shortcomings. And a universal learning remote takes care of all the complaints you have about the remote.
Although.....The problem could be be that a "simple firmware fix" might not correct the issues. One would think those concerns would have been taken care of by now.
Let's hope that for some reason these timer problems are just something difficult to debug. Rather than being related to a hardware problem. Like in the main processor or that problematic Samsung DTV receiver/demodulator IC that VB pointed to in post #1In regards to the remote control....
I have not touched or seen the original since two days after I took the 3500 out of the box.
I take that back, I did have to use it when Iview changed some of the button functions.
I use a learning remote that allows me to design screen lay-outs, button names, shapes, sizes, functions etc..
The other short comings.....
LED display.-- Easy fix. A couple layers of window tint film applied directly to the face of the LED display module.
The very bright Green
LED -- A common 470 ohm resistor corrected that .
Should a person have to do these things to something they just purchased new. Of course not. But when you consider that you bought an item that cost far less than any other like item, you should be prepared to make some compromises. You either find a way to live with the problems or you do what is necessary to correct the problems.
If I could take a stab at correcting the programming problems, I would, But since I can't, Myself and the rest of us, should try and help iView (who so far seems to be willing) to work out these problems. If the 3500 is a lost cause, then maybe they can get the next model right. If they are willing to listen, then sometimes, something "designed-by-committee" turns out to be very close to perfect. Examples: Our U.S. Constitution, Our Bill Of Rights, The Declaration of Independence.
