I've had the feeling for quite some time that AVS is the R&D and test department for iView, and that feeling is growing by leaps and bounds every day now. I can't disagree that is a smart approach and a good business model but I do think that the 3500 forum has been hung out to dry while the documentation of the problems and the suggested changes have probably gone to the benefit of other branded versions of the same product.
It amazes me what iView ended up doing, not only to us here on AVS but to all their customers who might go to iView website to get the latest firmware.
From all the company names we have been discussing, iView seems to be the major Brand Name, At least in this Country.
If you look to see which major retailers sell some of the various iView branded products, You will see some very familiar names;
These are just the names we've all known for many years.
Granted, not all of the above sell every product iView offers and for sure not all sell the STB3500
Iview has a very extensive line of consumer products related to computing and entertainment.
The point is, Since they are in these retail establishments you wound naturally think that they would care about their reputation.
Getting into these types of retailers is not an easy thing to accomplish.
