His name is Cleatus, and, I think he’s pretty cool. I even purchased a Buffalo Bills Cletus action figure off of eBay a while back. And while Fox specifically uses Cleatus for NFL and NCAA Football, his other robot cousins are present in other Fox Sports intros. There’s a robot driving the Fox Sports car on the track in the NSACAR intro, for the UFC you’ve got one robot in Blue and another in Red battling it out and I can’t remember if they have one for Fox Saturday Baseball or not.
If I was king of the world, sports programming would only be allowed on Fox or ESPN owned properties and league/conference owned networks. Turners is the absolute worst at sports, NBC isn’t far behind and CBS has its moments. NASCAR on CBS used to be good, NFL on CBS is okay, and NLL on CBS Sports Network is great as no other network really cares about lax.
I wish Fox would go back to using the song Sideways for the intro, that really got me pumped up for the race.
