Samsung HWF450

I saw this Samsung HWF450 at Best Buy for $299
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+-+2.1-Channel+Soundbar+with+Wireless+Subwoofer/7905043.p?id=1218862381353&skuId=7905043&st=samsung%20sound%20bar&cp=1&lp=1

It says "wireless subwoofer" but you have to connect the wire from the sub to the soundbar. This is bad because you have to have the sub near the soundbar.

I then saw Samsung HW-FM45C at Costco. Similiar model # as the Best Buy one, just with a C at the end and M in the front. I think it is almost the same thing, expect it is cheaper at $269 and comes with a HDMI cable. I did notice this sub is truley wireless. It does not have to connect to the soundbar at all.

My question is, how are these two different from the Samsung HWF550 that just came out for $399?

Do they really sound different for an extra $130 more?

Where did you get that idea? There's nothing in the specs to suggest that. As far as differences between the 450 & 550, compare the specs, then find a BB with both available for listening and decide for yourself (which is always the best way to decide if you like the sound of something). smile.gif

All models with the C at the end come with cables. Costco doesn't carry many models but is always a good place to look for cheaper prices. I would also like to know where you heard that the subwoofer is wired. The only thing that changes the extent with which the subwoofer would be "wired" is that some soundbars have the connections on the bar itself while others have the connections on the subwoofer. Those that have the latter would limit placement of the subwoofer. To my knowledge, none of the Samsung soundbars that you mentioned have the connections on the subwoofer.

When I went to Best Buy, they showed me the 450 which has a wire from the sub to the soundbar. They showed me the 550 which was more expensive and that was truly wireless sub.

BB was trying to pull a move to upsell you into the more expensive unit. You absolutely do not need a wire from the sound bar to the woofer.

No, the F450 has a wireless subwoofer. You were probably looking at the F350, which does require a cable to connect the sub. Reviews say the F550 at $349 is worth the extra $100 over the average sounding F450. They say avoid the pricey F750, which sounds almost the same as the F550.
