Hey guys I just bought the ga6400 a few weeks back and I was wondering if there was any way for me to skip the home screen and just go straight to the input source whenever I power on the device
post #302 of 377

Here's a app that might be the best streaming app on android. It's called Shwbox. Download and side load.

Happy Turkey Day!!!

Try this, 1) turn the tv off on the channel you're watching.
2) When you turn it on next time it will be on that channel, not the home screen.
3) Any system updates will popup.

Hi, im a newbie in this forum. I recently got my 60ga6400 from an online seller. Its actually my 3rd 60ga6400 since the first two that i got had clouding and white spot problems. Im thankful i got lucky on the third unit. It immediately got a 4.2 jb update and had no problems connecting to the internet. I have these concerns/observations:

1. I cant get the trumotion to work on the "user" mode, it only works on "clear" and "smooth" modes. When i put the setting to User mode a message saying "unfortunately, settings has stopped".
2. The 3rd unit i got does not have that extra gray plastic-like thing wrapped around the edge of the bezel, the first two defective units have it as well as the units i see at bb and sears. I may have gotten a refurbished unit which is an issue for me since it is supposed to be brand new according to the seller.
3. I was wondering why the actual tv stand is different from the picture in lg's website. Mine came with the more common u-shaped stand.
4. Its picture quality deteriorates while viewing further away from the center, i have an lg lw5300 which has a fantastic picture quality at any viewing angle.

So far, im enjoying my ga6400 and hope that i will enjoy it for a long time.

Hi,

I am responding to this thread b/c I am having an issue, that sounds similar. I have the GA6450 and during set up of Google TV, a pop-up to update the TV showed and I clicked on it. This was a bad mistake. It updated and restarted the TV, then anytime I try to get into google TV there is a message that pops up that says, Unfortunately, Setup did not finish with a OK button for the message that you can select. When you click OK, it reloads the message over and over again. Thus, I can't get to the browser or google tv or anywhere that I can start set up again. I can switch inputs and go to TV or to gaming, but that is it.

How do you hard reset this TV? I am assuming that if a hard reset doesn't work that there is a bigger problem and LG with have to send a rep to repair this TV ...

Any Ideas or advice or knowledge would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

OTA works fine, I tested it, but I'm actually talking about Dish content on my Hopper.

Can some of you post some settings that you are using? In particular, I am interested in seeing what you are using for HDTV as well as for 3D Blu-Ray. I'll be happy to list all my picture settings also if you guys want to compare.
My cord cutting/money saving settings are; 1) I use my cable cord, but no cable box and let the ga6400 scan all available channels, this works great.
2) I use xbmc and netflix, this too works great.
3) have a 3d bluray player, seldom used because I'm not happy with the way rental 3d movies look, need to compare settings with others here on the forum. I insert the 3d bluray, press play, but don't seem get full 3d effect, need help here too......
4) My picture settings are from the picture wizard, looks good but needs fine tuning to make the picture pop. Tried the settings from an earlier post but the picture actually got worse so I reverted to using the picture wizard settings in standard mode.
5) Internet connection via ethernet, for stability.

***** To use XBMC you need a jailbroken Apple tv2.

With this setup, all I pay for is Netflix and monthly internet connection..........

This is why I want people to POST THEIR SETTINGS, because many of us are still having a difficult time getting the best picture (yes I know everyone's eyes are different, but posting settings might give people a good baseline.)
Are you using the picture wizard?
No sir.
Pardon the dumb question in my prior post, regard using the picture wizard. I went back to your earlier post and noticed your picture settings, thanks for posting. I tried it, but messed up (was on my third glass of wine) and reverted to the picture wizard settings, it's easier and faster. I do plan to use your settings in the coming week. Have you modified your picture settings since? if so, what settings are you using now. Thanks.
Are you talking to me? If so, yes, I have modified them, but only on Dish HDTV content. I've gone to just using "Standard" because ISF Expert 1&2 just seemed to dark for HDTV broadcasts. I'm trying (begging) folks to post their settings so that we can see what is working for others and what isn't, but we're not having much success. As far as the settings for Blu-Ray and Blu-Ray 3D, I'm using a slightly modified version of Aceg1's settings, on Page 3.

Hey JBlank,

I have not had a chance to calibrate my 60GA with a Spyder yet, but having calibrated my previous Samsung I can say that the ISF Expert mode default settings look very good. Here is what I have done...

Turn off *every* enhancement. TruMotion, edge enhancement, noise reduction... everything.
Turn off the "Eco Mode" which affects the backlight brightness.
I set my Fios Cable box to pass through the hdmi signal so the tv does the 720 to 1080 conversion

After that, adjust the backlight to your viewing conditions.

At some point I will do a full calibration and post my settings, but remember that every panel is different and may not give the same results.

Sean
Thanks. I eagerly await your post calibration settings.
Sean I read your recommendation for picture settings and I'm reluctant.... I've tried other recommendations and didn't find them superior to simply going into picture mode and selecting the " standard" setting. Granted the standard setting is probably not the best but until someone does a full calibration .......

What picture settings are most people using?
That's what we're trying to find out Trev. I've been practically BEGGING people to post their settings so we can see if there is a pattern, but sadly, this TV has drummed up about as much interest as getting the flu has.
People can start with the isf settings first then wait on the calibration
post #319 of 377
Yeah Dave, that's pretty much what most have done I think, but for many of us, the isf settings don't offer what we feel are the best settings. I know for me, it deadens the picture and adds a bit of yellow push, which is why I have gone to a tweak of "Standard" to gain back a bit of the punch to the image.
Yup would be great to try someone's proper calibration
post #321 of 377
I'll try and post mine later tonight....

Cool I'll try em later

Those picture settings look pretty good overall. Wish the black levels were a bit better.

My current issues with the TV revolve around the remote codes. Trying to get a Visio sound bar to work with the magic remote. The only way I see to do this is to modify the /mnt/irdb/audio.txt and the database.hex file with the codes. Any other way to use custom codes with the Magic remote / IR blaster? The Roku is also in the same boat but that can be fixed by buying the Roku Stick.

Other than the subpar sound this TV is great. Side loading apps for Sonos, my security cams and the nest thermostat works well.

Which Vizio soundbar do you have? For me I just went under settings and there was an option under sound to control the AV receiver with the LG remote. I then selected a brand(I think Sony) and used its code to control the Vizio sound bar. The Vizio needed to be put into Program Remote mode to learn the LGs TV remote code. The good thing is that the TV has literally hundreds of different codes it can switch to so if one doesnt work try a different brands code.

S3820w-C0 38" 2.0 soundbar. I dont see anything in the manual to do the program remote procedure. I see that the 5.1 model with the LCD remote has the option.

I wanted to use this soundbar specifically because it has a SUB out. That gets connected to a wireless transmitter / receiver from Dayton and sends signal to my Velodyne sub. Probably overkill but Ive been waiting a long time to get the sub operational in the house.

I guess for normal viewing I can connect the soundbar to the analog out from the TV.

Glad they worked for you. What did you change the sharpness settings to?
Dave,
What changes did you make to v and h sharpness settings?

Everyone..... Please, please if you find a way to do anything better on the GA6400, BE SPECIFIC!
