Oppo BDP-105 for 7.1 w/o preamp

I only found a few somewhat related hits on this when searching and not much detail and not on the current model. I think this may be possible, but don't understand the pros and cons.

I'm assembling a setup with an Oppo BDP-105, Integra DTR40.4, amps, ML summits/stage and Definitive in-wall surrounds. I'm trying to understand if I can bypass the Integra and just plug the other inputs into the Oppo since it has 2 HDMI in ports. I think this gives me a cleaner analog audio path so I can take advantage of the Oppo's DAC. I haven't played around with the Oppo's speaker setup yet so there may be issues there I haven't thought of. Bypassing the Integra lets me ditch my RTI remote entirely and use the Oppo's iPhone app as a remote.

Thoughts?

This is much discussed in the -105 owners thread: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1439524/official-oppo-bdp-105-owners-thread

I'm running my Oppo 105 direct. No processor. Using a D-Sonic 500W per channel amp. Everything works pretty well except having to reselect the input every time the Oppo is turned on. Unless your consistently viewing a disc, this becomes a minor inconvenience. It would be very cool if Oppo corrects this with a new firmware update. The sound is very good sans processor. Worth your effort to dial it in. I am having difficulty setting up my new Martin Logan Descent i though. I've started a new thread for expert advice.

yes, I found that thread but how does one find something in a thread with 160 pages when the results aren't easily accessible via using the forum's search tools. Or, what should I search for. Don't have time to read 4000 posts.

drmarg58 - why did you take that approach? If you were to go through a preamp/receiver via the HDMI do you lose the benefits of the Oppo's DAC? Or is is just having fewer parts is always better? Did you do comparisons with and without the preamp?

That is where people will answer your questions.

The forum moderators would rather have all discussion of a specific player model concentrated in one place rather than scattered in many.
