Ok, I`ve got them all hooked up and the they all work:) but I had to turn the gain up all the way to hear much out of moderate volume music, guess I`ve got a lot of playing to do and of course haven`t done Audyssey or sms yet, just plug in and play.

You'll need to adjust the levels. Are you using xlr from the SMS to the amp?

Not using the SMS yet, xlr from avr to amp.
ahhh yes. youll probably need more signal going to the amp than the avr puts out. the sms can possibly make up for that. if not, you can use one of these:

are you using one cable or two?

What do you mean, one or two? I have two of those already.
Are you using one output from the avr or two?

If one. Make sure the amp is set to parallel

Subwoofer1 and subwoofer2, amp is set to parallel. I've got two clean boxes already, how do I hook them up? Between the avr and amp?
If your using two different inputs on the amp. Change it to stereo. Yes the clean boxes go between the avr and the amp. They will allow you to increase the gain going to the amp. Might as well just run rca to the clean box then xlr to the amps.

Ok, I thought parallel had to do with the speaker set up.
Nope. It sends the same signal to both channels. Used when your using one input and both outputs. Kind of like Mono. The stereo setting is for two separate input and output signals like your doing.

Oh ok, I've got some extra XLR cables so I'm going to use those instead of RCA , should I use one cleanbox or both?

Oh, I am getting a signal to all four subs, just weak!
Just one clean box is necessary.

Ok.

Hooked up clean box, switched to stereo, nothing, now I`m getting discouraged!
I think you need to use rca into the clean box. Then xlr out. It looks like it converts whatever you put in.

Yes, that makes sense. I have a butt load of cables but don't have any short ones, guess I`ll be going RS or Best Buy or somewhere tomorrow.
Try whatever rca you have first. Just to make sure.

I will!

Ok, the cleanbox did the trick but there is sort of an issue, the output 1 knob on the CB has no affect on the volume level at all, but the #2 knob turns all 4 subs up or down, I tried both boxes, what`s up with this?

Also, I want clean these cables up, will there be a signal issues if I put the cables from two of the subs in the same raceway since there not shielded?
No. They will not interfere with each other.

As for the gain issue on the clean box, I'm not sure. they are supposed to work indapendantly. The amp is in stereo mode correct?
Thread Starter
Yep, stereo. Definitely something weird going on, even running Audyssey the gain knob on 1 doesn't do anything and the #2 will turn the volume up or down.

Another question. Right now I have the amp plugged in the wall but have room on my power conditioner for it. My Emotiva amps are plugged in the walls because Emo says that fine to do, what about this amp? Also kinda sucks this thing doesn't have a trigger, have to turn it on and off manually, is replacing these fans with more quiet ones very difficult?

Tried changing cables around and still the same, only channel 2 output knob has any affect, on another note though, I ran XT32 and the initial results are pretty good, played some music and the first ten minutes of Transformers and had the explosions at 105db at +12.5 on my 5508 and it was very nice. I think once I run Pro/SMS and do some more experimenting this will be awesome!

Post a picture of the amp rear panel, so we can get a visual of what exactly you have going on back there...
