4K is the equivalent of 35mm 1.85:1 in resolution (give or take). Where as 70mm's frame is over twice the width of 35mm's and about double 1.85's height..it will take more than 8K to capture 65/70mm 5-perf and three times that for IMAX.
Don't forget the degradation that a 35mm original goes through, before the print gets projected in a multiplex projector.
Real 4K projected in a 4K digital cinema -- sadly -- is much sharper than most 35mm film projected in a multiplex, due to all the losses of the multiple steps (e.g. negative -> masters -> print)
Now....a flagship presentation in Chinese Mann Theatre, or one of the top-tier theatres.... That's a different story. Those really make sure the losses are minimal.
