Hot Amp

I have my Blu Ray, two direct TV boxes on top of my Onkyo amp. There is some clearance, but I feel it's not enough.

These components are in a clost that is roughly 8 feet high by 4 feet wide.

There is a shelf the amp sits on and everything else sits on top of that.

Are there any stackable type racks, wires shelves or anything I could possibly purchase so I can gain more clearance above the amp.

I currently have a fan attempting to blow the air out, I keep the closet door open.

Also, looking for a good cooling fan, pad or whatever to place on top of amp.

However, I'm more concerned about creating space between my amp and blu ray and direct tv boxes.

You should NEVER have anything on an amp/receiver.

There are many different types of shelving and racks for mounting home entertainment equipment. People with many devices (amps, processors, players, etc) often use industrial 19-inch "relay racks". Some examples are shown in http://www.avsforum.com/t/788074/show-me-your-rack/1530

You might consider visiting a local audio-video store to see what's available.

Check your receiver's manual, but usually 6-8" inches of clearance is required on all sides. If you can't provide that much, a fan will be required.

How about if I just build one level if shelving out of mdf and raising it the required clearance per the owners manual

I didn't even think about this, but I could put the blu ray on the bottom, build a stable rack and then have the amps it on top, would have almost unlimited heigth above the amp.

That sounds like it should work very well!

I've used wood strips - something like 2 x 2 lumber for that purpose. I have a table saw and just cut stock to suit.

In the end you should restack your components with the hot one on top.
