Rewards Program

Does everyone take advantage of this program? I started using it awhile ago since the surveys take a couple minutes and you get 20 MS points for it. Not to mention they now have the VIP promotion and the Punchcard promotions going on.

I've signed up for it and got a few perks. None big enough to remember. But its basically your typical rewards plan, where you get a incentive to make Xbox or XBL marketplace related purchases.

If you are person that purchases DLC, games on demand, videos, music, XBL points alot. You will see good benefits from it.

If you are like me and only annually purchase COD map packs with MS points, I doubt you'll ever notice a benefit from using it.

They did have a special recently where if you purchased certain full featured games from XBL Marketplace.. you got like an 800pt bonus. Thats pretty awesome, especially considering some of the games were 50% off. Too bad COD4, MW2, or BLOPS1 wasnt on that list. I'd purchase those just to finally get rid of the stupid discs. Maybe next time!

Do you do the monthly survey?
I've earned 820 in points so far. I dig it.
I use the reward program, and I do the monthly survery. So far I have earned 1800 Microsoft points which isn't bad for doing things I would normally do anyway.

I've done it once. I simply dont redeem points often enough make it worth the effort. I've also done the Bing rewards, which did payoff decently in the redemption of 800 point rewards from that. But even that took a year of completing Bing activities. I've also tried the Best Buy reward zone survey's on their Facebook app.. but it has yet to provide any usual totals.

As I said earlier, for those who use XBL Marketplace often it can be worth your time because there are so many smaller things to redeem your points for. I only use points to buy COD map packs.. and considering the annual subscription for that was 4800 points this year.. its just not something I see as worthy. I'd have to complete 240 monthly surveys to get the map packs for free.

I don't do it religiously, but I did find it interesting that I was in the highest percentile of people earning rewards points.I do the MS Rewards, including the survey. I also do BING search rewards. (125= 100 MS points) Don't leave money on the table...there are quite a few ways to earn. It's not a lot, but it's free. I have over 2000 right now.
Don't forget that when you renew your yearly, you can get up to 400 MS points...
Just got my monthly rewards statement and I've earned 2080 MS points to date...not too shabby. The Bing rewards I've really cleaned up with though...right around $75 over the last year and a half.

i forget to do those surveys all the time!

never figured out how the bing search thing works for rewards.

Sign in to your Microsoft account. Go to BING, and sign up. Two searches gets you one point. At the sign in (top right corner) there is usually a special search, "Earn 1 Point..." "Earn 25 points..." etc...
I use the Bing Bar, but I hate the "Bing Desktop..."
And your first bing search should be "bing bot". I usually do that first thing at work...while going through my morning emails, the bing bot gets my searches done in a few minutes in the background. Then I'm free to use google the rest of the day.

It's 3 searches for every point, not 2. Maximum of 30 points a day. Also, as I'm sure everyone is aware having Gold gets you a discount on earning MS points. Instead of 500 search points for 400 MS points it's 475 for 400 and 120 search points for 100 MS points instead of 125. I've earned 1204 MS points so far and that's just recently. I also agree, I hate the Bing desktop. It's cool in concept but more annoying in practice.

so you do bing searches and it just knows to apply them toward microsoft points?

No, once you are enrolled in the program any 3 searches you do results in a net of 1 "Bing Rewards point" on your account. They can be applied towards MS points but can be used on other stuff too. Skype minute cards, Hulu Plus deals, Starbucks gift cards, other assorted offers. MS points are mentioned here because of the obvious relevance. You can earn points from the Bing website in addition to the Bing Bar and Bing desktop app but not from the mobile website or Windows Phone Bing app. You also have monthly surveys and offers to get Bing Rewards points as well so it's not just from searching the web although that's the main part of it. It's just a relatively easy way to get some free MS points for not really having to do much.

I get one point for every two searches with a maximum of 15 per day. I use my Bing points to pay for Hulu Plus.

Sorry, not sure where you're getting your points from, but I am getting one bing point for every two searches via the bing bar.

From my bing search profile:

Search and Earn-3 of 15
Earn 1 credit per 2 Bing searches up to 15 credits a day.
Bing bar must be different then. I get a point for every three with a max of 30 points a day.
I'm wondering if once you get to a certain number of lifetime search points it changes from the "3 searches and 30 points a day" to "2 searches and 15 points a day". I signed up my wife's Hotmail account with Bing rewards a few months ago and it is "3 and 30" with her account and "2 and 15" with mine. I can't remember what it was when I signed up, but i know it has changed a few time for me. This is through the browser, not the Bing bar...
I have a lifetime accumulation of 2,256 and 1 credit for 2 searches, up to 30 credits per day. It's been like that for as long as I've been using it. I'm not sure why some people are seeing different numbers.

Just got 400 more points today with the Bing search rewards. That is the third time I've hit been given 400 points since Feb 5th...pretty good if you ask me. Using the Bing bot has really made it easy to get the searches done.

Also, my lifetime credit accumulation is 6900.

I just signed up, and have about 50 points right now. What are these surveys, and how do I get in on this action?!?!?!

It's in the Myextras section I think. It's a quick survey every month. Just fill it out and 20 points will be added to your rewards account. Once you earn 100 points, it will deposit it to your xbox live account. Also keep an eye on the mypunchcard section on xbox live.

Not sure where you're going...but the surveys, and all your account history are Here
Sign in with your LIVE account, and watch it grow

I don't get how Live rewards is working (or not working?). I'm joined and everything, but do I have to go through the rewards site to get points for buying content and such? I just bought some DLC and then saw that I could earn points by buying DLC, but I didn't earn those points I guess?

I have the same question about Netflix. There's a reward for activating Netflix on your Xbox, but I did that before I signed up for rewards, so can I not earn that now? Or would I have to deactivate and then reactivate? It's all very confusing. It's like airline frequent flyer miles!
