I'm confident in my coverage...enough to recommend them on. I normally feel higher cost warranties are not worth it since if something does go wrong, at those price points I might want to use that money on the next 'upgrade'....but at 99$ I can't but do it, whether I need it or not.

Now, the Geek Squad warranty covers burn-in, correct? (Assuming it was bought from BB). Because I have burn-in on my ST30, and I have seen traces of image retention on my VT60 (albeit not as bad as my ST30), I am considering getting the Geek Squad warranty even though it's like $400 for two years. I do watch a lot of The History Channel and I am bit nervous of getting that logo faintly burned in again.

Yes it is covered to my knowledge, that History channgel logo is bad, but the H2 logo is worse imo

I didn't realize there was a warranty that covered that tbh - the manufacturer certainly doen't - but I read the plan and it seems you are right! Very bizarre that they would cover something that's generally considered user error - hopefully there's no other language in the contract that negates that clause similarly.

I would find out if anyone has successfully made that claim? Also is the 2 years after the manufacturer first year? The IR I have of HGTV is still there on my vt50, but is academic since I can't actually see it without pausing on an all gray screen and walking up to the tv and having to get the right angle to see it.

If you buy an extended warranty from Best Buy it begins on day one. Issue with the display you contact them, not the manufacturer. The warranty does cover burn-in, dead pixels (3 or more), power surge and then the other things covered under a manufacturers warranty. With all the talk of about fan noise, burn-in issues with prior models, red-blinking light of death, etc. I have to admit I bit on a 2 year plan when I bought my VT60 thinking if something was going to happen it would be within the first few years. The only other time I bought their coverage was when I purchased an XBR4, it ended up failing after a few years and since the repair required a new panel they just gave me a credit and I walked out with the latest and greatest from Samsung. Working with them through the whole process was quick and easy. I don't see any reason why they would deny a claim for something the is expressly covered in their service plan. It was hard to buy their plan vs. going to Costco and getting a Square Trade warranty for less. We all know that no one sells extended warranties to lose money, but the VT60 was a big purchase for me and the extra things that BB covered made me decide to spend the $. If my fans go from quite to noisy they will be hearing from me. As others have pointed out you can usually get them to come down a little more then whatever their original quote is if you are willing to purchase their warranty coverage/money maker. Maybe the sales staff get a bonus or incentive for selling them.

If you only want two years total coverage, another thing to consider is some of the good mastercards will double the manufacturers warranty if you purchase your product on it. Of course you'll have to live with the terms of the original manufacturer warranty, but its zero out of pocket.

The only reason to go with BB is if you want the extras that the original manufacturer warranty doesn't cover and at least in my limited experience BB was much easier to deal with when making a warranty claim. The AMEX it was bought with provides an extra year of coverage. When it was all said and done I got the TV and the warranty for a good price relative to what others have paid for just the TV. See what reading AVS on a daily basis does to you? I would probably have a few more dollars in my pocket if I never had heard of this forum - savings on equipment upgrades may have paid for a year or two of my son's college tuition.

Just took delivery of a 65VT60. It was delivered by Ceva, and the two delivery guys were great. They brought it in, unpacked it, and made sure everything worked before taking off. I was worried that they would bring it to the door and leave me to it. Big weight off my shoulders. smile.gif

So far everything looks good; I'm running an older version of a break-in slide DVD I made, and I don't notice any dead pixels (my old 5080 had a pixel that was red almost dead-center of the screen). I can't hear any fan noise or buzzing either. *fingers crossed*

Question: I'm running full screen DVD, muted for aging. It seems that if I'm not in the room or walk through once in a while the TV will shut off and I'll get a "No Activity" shut down. Twice today it happened. Once when I went to the store and once when I mowed the lawn. It's happened a total of 4 times in the past 2 days. When I turn the TV back on, the DVD is still playing. Using XBox as player. Has anybody seen this? I left the default settings at 4 hrs no activity shutdown. I might have been gone 1 to 1.5 hrs.

Some of these stations use lighter, more transparent logos - so much better.

That's good because the Galaxy S4 is neither. wink.gif

I'm not sure I'd be as willing to jump back to a 50" Kuro after enjoying this ZT60 for a few nights. I did notice immediately that it handles motion quite differently than the Kuro (smoother, less film-like?).

Have you tried changing motion setting to weak? Or you leave it off which is recommended.
Cheers. Sure enough, I have it set to weak, so I guess it's engaging motion interpolation. I'll set it to off for the next viewing.

I don't care what it is. Just saying sceen size is not the only thing, the 60vt60 is in my small bedroom and i view 11ft from the screen while in bed. So a 60' is plenty. Just shocked that the vt60 is so much better than my 65vt30.

You've got a choice to make.

Worry about burnin from logos and not enjoy your display. All plasmas do it to some degree and you'd have to switch to an LCD based display. Then the complaint will be their faces change color when I slide over a couple of feet.

OR

Ignore it as best you can and try to enjoy the content. That's what I chose to do.
