Well I took delivery of the TC-P60VT60 today. Everything went fine and I could not be happier. The picture is decent right OOTB and the delivery went very smooth with the CEVA Logistics delivery guy. Of course they only sent one guy so I had to help him unload and assemble it. Fortunately it only needed to come in the front door and into the front room. The delivery guy un-boxed it and we proceeded to put the stand on it. We got it all plugged in and then set it on the short table for it to rest until I get a mount for it.

At first it didn't want to pass the EDID / HDMI / HDCP handshake and muted the volume. The fans are silent and i cannot hear them at all and there was no panel buzzing. Then I re-started my AVR and it connected just fine. The hours were 0 and the screen was flawless, free from micro cracks blobs and what not. I could not be happier. I played Star Trek Into Darkness right away and it was beautiful. I even tested out the 3D glasses. They do a decent job. The break in slides are running overnight right now.

The only design drawback I see is the Red LED. I really don't need an indicator to show that the TV is on as there is 60" of plasma display to indicate that it is on. Fortunately my center channel covers this right now but when I mount it on the wall it will be exposed. My old Samsung had the LED but just the opposite occured. It was only on to indicate standby and off.

Glad the delivery went well and you got a good set.
lightdims or a piece of electrical tape can be used to cover the light.

Easy Fix ! Pick up a pack of LightDims - i use these things on everything - even on my car's instrument panel:

I hope its okay to ask about this in this thread: Has anyone here ordered this TV from Amazon but have them price match the Paul's TV price? From what I saw on the Amazon site, you have to first order the tv at their price, and then when it ships you tell them about the other price and they refund the difference. It says, "If you find a lower price on another qualifying retailer within 14 days after the date we ship your order, let us know and we'll credit your original payment method taking any differences in shipping and promotions into account." Is there a way to get the lower price when you first order the item?

Yes, go to Amazon's Help -> Contact Us page. File down the options about your problem regarding an order, and then choose a contact option. Chat is usually quickest and most reliable, especially if you're gonna be showing a link. When you get a CS rep. show them the price and if it qualifies they can take it off the price right then and there, or send you an email valid for 48 hours which grants you a post-purchase discount.

Great thanks a lot for the info. Does anyone know if Amazon requires you to be there, open the box and then sign off that there is no damage like Paul'sTV requires for this set? I can't take off from work to accept delivery so that's why I didn't go through Paul'sTV (they told me it was mandatory white glove delivery). It looks like Amazon does not make it mandatory from what I can see.

You can get the Samsung SSG-5100GB for $19 from Amazon. They are non-rechargable though.

I picked up the Panasonic TY-ER3D4MU for $51 as I didn't want to deal with replacing batteries.

Hello, a quick calibration question. Right now I'm using CNET settings on my vt60. And I think it looks good except for a few situations where it seems pretty dim. My ? is. If I have this set calibrated will it lose even more brightness? I always thought the calibration sort of dims the picture. I really don't think I would be very happy with this set if it lost any of the brightness. Should I cancel my calibration?

Yes, I tried running that for a while. But it didn't clear it up.

Ran slides for a few hours. That's when you can really see it.

Well somebody needs to be there to accept the delivery. Since you're not going to be there when the driver arrives with your TV then i presume someone else will be home to accept the delivery and sign for it right?

Amazon's Enhanced Delivery service has the driver unpack the TV, plug it in, turn it on, and bring up a menu to make sure the TV works. At the very least, have whomever you're going to have there to accept the TV shine a flashlight over the whole screen to look for small cracks in the panel or the outer glass, and to listen for buzzing (it should be silent at a foot away as was my 55ST60 the other day). Have the driver leave the box there in case you need to return the TV for whatever reason.

Most calibrators will take into account what your wants are when doing the calibration. I think you will notice a pretty big improvement based on what I have seen with CNET settings before. Who is doing your calibration ?

Doug from Lions is who I have an appointment with.

I forgot to mention I live in an apartment building with a doorman. Ideally I would like Amazon to just leave the box unopened with the doorman and then he could just keep it in the package room until I get home later. I bought a 47" LED tv from Amazon last year and they just delivered it to my door and I signed for it (before I lived in the city).

Then if there is something wrong with the tv, I would just send it back. While not as fast as having them open it in front of me so I can inspect, it is the only option for me.

Hey guys...anyone in here who ordered from Pauls recieve a bad or cracked set? Or did it take a while for them to deliver. The guy David I spoke with was very nice and spoke withe this afternoon after calling the delivery company to arrange a time. They were suppose to call me but never did. I called David back as he asked and he stated he would call which he did but told me they were closed but raised it to a supervisor area and he said they should contact me in the morning. But David seemed a little rushed to get off the phone so I just hope I'm not being scammed

I bought the 60VT60 from Paul's TV last month at a local brick and mortar store and it was delivered two days later in perfect shape. I had no complaints about their price or delivery.

However, their 30 day price match guarantee is a joke. When I bought my TV the local store honored the $400 off online promo code and did not charge me sales tax. 28 days later I found out about the $500 promo code and called to have the $100 difference refunded. I was denied because now they said that they would have to charge me sales tax so my original deal was better. I talked to multiple people at Paul's TV and was told the same thing....denied.

I still don't understand why they would now need to charge me sales tax when they didn't charge me tax on my original purchase. Oh well, I guess the $100 is more important to them than a repeat customer...rolleyes.gif

Honesty I would try Amazon or eBay.

Did the delivery company contact you guys a day prior to delivery or day of? These guys are suppose to call with delivery times and working out a time best for me and they haven't yet so I was just curious if anyone had the pleasure of doing so. Would be very convenient since it's suppose to be here tomorrow I told the boss I had to go to the "bank" lol

When I bought the TV at the local store, they set up the delivery time then an there. Gave me a four hour window from 2 to 6pm. They got there at about 5:30 and did not call before they arrived.

My biggest question now...is to do break in slides or break in TV with regular content!?? I did slides with my KURO but didn't feel it really needed to be done but that was a different company and different tech.

With my S60 I just ran some full screen content and anytime I played a game or felt something could cause harm I ran some more full screen no logo content and then do a screen wipe. I much rather just pop on some full screen content with no logos but if the slides are absolutely recommended for this set then I would do that.

So are most using the official break in settings for the ST60 on the VT60?

For some reason it will not let me view the D-nice vt60 settings. AAAAAAAAAARRRGGGGG

I successfully did this just last week and got amazon store card 24 month interest free financing. It took about 20 minutes in a chat session to get it approved and complete the transaction. There's supposed to be no pricing talk in this thread so I sent you a PM.
