Get into the service menu as I described. I take no responsibility for any damage you may cause while you are in the service menu.

Move down the list using the arrow keys to the item "Expert" and press Enter.

Using the up and down arrow keys highlight the "N/D ADJ" item and press Enter.

Use the right arrow to get the "ON" setting. (Not "Fix.")

Hit Return.

With the down arrow key, highlight the "Source" item and use the right or left arrow keys to get "ALL"

Click Return twice to get back to the main menu. (Not really needed but do it anyway.)

Turn the Power off.

Power back on and the two new CAL modes will be available. Now, as I said, the original settings in Movie and the other original modes will be at their factory defaults so you will have to re-enter them.

Larry

That worked, thanks. I have the modes available and setup.

Please don't blast me for posting this in the wrong thread - any suggestions for calibration of my PN64F8500 in Greenville, SC?

I just had to take mt 55vt60 back it would not fit n the space provided for my set - I bought the samsung 51" - I am coming from a 2008 Pioneer Pro-FHD1 - I have two questions, do I need to break in the samsung and if so how long and with what and also what are your thoughts on the best settings here for night and day?

Yeah, D-Nice is located in Columbia I believe. I'm in Greenville and will probably be getting in touch with him soon for the same.

Pie,
I've got a question regarding your 3D calibration. What do you have your "3D perspective" set to?
-2 seems to work best for me with most types of 3D footage.

I presume it's dependent on player/TV/content.
I received my calibration reports from Robert at Value Electronics, just making sure with him that it is OK to post them. As was speculated it was D-Nice who did the calibration.

As soon as I hear I will post back.

With such a great set, it really is amazing to see the wide range of picture quality between TV networks.

Here are links to my two calibration reports, hope these help someone, I know in a very minimal way what I am looking at on these. It has been years since I've had a TV calibrated.

Phil

Both look great....looks like the hump at 90 is fixed in the cal mod.

Am I correct in thinking that the "Y" value in the charts is the light output and that on say the CAL-DAY it is at about 45Fl for 100ire?

Phil, thanks for those. Do you have the calibration values too?
That's where I'd like to see if there is a pattern forming in the method used.
Not sure what you mean by that, isn't that what I had previously posted?

If not let me know, but this is all I was sent.
^ You posted the results. I'd like to also see the values themselves. Movie mode has one set, CAL-DAY another.

Very nice calibration, Phil.

Thanks Larry it was with my great skill that I did this. Or the fact that I bought it from Robert at Value electronics, and had D-Nice do the calibration on it!!

Phil,

I understand that some amateur like D-Nice did the calibration. But taking that into consideration, it's a good calibration anyway. biggrin.gif

Do you mean to fire back at itself?
