Ray Donovan on SHO - Page 6

Last night, I watched Larry David's HBO movie Clear History, in which Liev Schreiber appears.

He was uncredited due to, as Wikipedia puts it, "his involvement in Ray Donovan, broadcasted by HBO's rival network Showtime."
I have't seen anything else with Schreiber but Ray Donovan is pretty low-key as a character.

Mickey is so much more charismatic that you can see how everyone else would be drawn to him more than Ray. Even Ray's own kids.

That's silly. He deserves credit. Him playing the Czechoslovakian was great.

His character Tibor was a Chechnyan (or is it Chechen?), one of Larry David's character's "top five ethnic groups." biggrin.gif

I can't remember the films name , but when Liev played the cross dresser in that woodstock movie ,I felt his role was the best acting of the movie

As much as I admire Liev Schreiber's work, I plan to skip Clear History. Most of the critics have disliked it but the capper is that my daughter hated it.smile.gif

That's funny, he is still being credited with the narration of Hard Knocks on HBO. Maybe because he is unseen?

@ 1st I was really turned off to the character but as the film progressed I was in awe of Liev's acting chops ,
I was a Fan from that point & when I read/seen the promos for "Ray Donovan" was going to be released many months ago I eagerly awaited this show .

LS had a small part, but it was amusing.

The movie certainly had some similarities to Curb Your Enthusiasm, but felt like an overly long episode of one. And set in Martha's Vineyard.

And would it kill Larry David to ever wear a different style of eyeglass frames? He doesn't play "himself" in this movie, yet there he is as a different character in the same eyeglasses you've always seen him in.

At the risk of hijacking the thread, I look forward to the next RD episode. biggrin.gif

It had a few moments but was basically forgettable.

Gosh damn! What an amazing episode. Emotional rollercoast tongue.gif

Mickey was wild, actually pulling the gun out.

Poor Frances. Hopefully they get back together, they like each other.

Wait, we did not see Ezera tonight. That's a bit odd.

Just terrific, written by the creator Ann Biderman, and directed by the sharp shooter, Guy Ferland.
When Mickey poured that drink and he is sitting there going , well, lets get too it, next thing, excuse me, and he comes back with the gun and says get down on your knees... Speaking of: More James Woods, his remarks, then he moves his head and adjusts with the clicker.... Come on!!!
That front yard scene was hilarious... The neighbor comes over and Ray says. "you don't want to do that", next thing Bunche is given him a beatin..
Really good, lots hapenning...

this episode showed that despite the problems in the inner Ray Donovan family the core family still loves each other , they are not happy with what & how they conduct themselves & interact with each other but that as a core family they all see what keeps them tight .
I thought the gun scene was funny as soon as she said that about a gun to her head , I knew Micky was gonna go get his gun . Micky wants a BJ & if that is what it was gonna take he thinks OK ! I'll get the gun .
I liked the part where the bro's were talkin' about their sister & Ray figures out that all he remembers about his sister might not be true in respect to his father as a abuser .
I take it Ray is the youngest of all the brothers & some of what he remembers might have been clouded by his youth & influenced by what his mother told him that might not be true OR he just got it wrong at the time way back then .

She is Rosanna Arquette: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000275/. Don't know if anyone noticed, but Terry, played by Eddie Marsan, is a Brit, and you may recognize him as Inspector Lastrade from Sherlock Holmes-Game of Shadows: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0550371/

The show is really well cast - will be interesting to see how the plot develops with Avi seemingly on the lam and headed to Arizona and/or points further east, and Lena busted (presumably for smacking her ex girlfriend) 2 valuable members of Ray's support team may be on the sidelines for awhile.

IF Rosanna hadn't drank & partied with the band so much she still would be a looker the Arquette's family has a drinking problem , David reveled on Stern yesterday that he's crawled back into the bottle after 2 1/2 years sober , said he wasn't being honest with himself sober ,, whatta crock 'O BS that is eek.gif

Rosanna also lived with Peter Gabriel. Let's not forget sister Patricia of Medium fame. She is very pretty and looks like she has had some weight struggles. (Whom am I to talk) But, last pictures of her I've seen show her has quite the hottie. The entire brood are grandchildren of Cliff Arquette - Charlie Weaver.

Yeah , I had forgot about Patricia , seems she's the one who is the happiest of the siblings , it shows in recent photos . I've always thought she was the best as a actor of the three .

Why is Avi on the way to Arizona? was the red bag holding the money from the Arab for Bunchie's house?

Bunchie seems younger than Ray, and the other brother seems to be the oldest/wise one

Rosanna Arquette was in a lot of movies in the 80's/90's but not so much recently. I remember her in Pulp Fiction, when whatserface OD's, Travolta had to wake her up with the adrenaline needle, and RA's character in the back saying "Far out"

It would appear that Avi is taking the money from Bunchie's house to a drop or meet spot for Sully. Hence the reason they cut to Sully and his girl and her saying "you are going to be rich now and leave me behind?"

That could be right, although I though he was taking it to Arizona just to hide it from the family. Must be one or the other.

The song was written by David Paich, who has said that the song is based on numerous girls he had known. As a joke, the band members initially played along with the common assumption that the song was based on Rosanna Arquette, who was dating Toto keyboard player Steve Porcaro at the time and coincidentally had the same name.

I've read more from the band members that confirm this. They don't care if the myth continues. Most are still good friends with her.

Rosanna's other big movie was Desperately Seeking Susan with Madonna and Aidan Quinn. My impression is Avi was taking the money to Sully for the Mickey hit. Sucks, if that is what he is doing, that Ray is using his brothers money to have the old man offed.
