aereo

Has anybody been following the story of the startup Aereo? I don't understand how it works technically, but they are somehow using internet wiring as an antenna to pick-up local broadcast TV. The consumer gets a "DVR in the sky" - you get to save programs in the cloud.

The service only exists in NYC today, but they won a legal case and plan to expand to 22 cities this year (including mine.) I desperately want to dump my cable tv company and switch to internet streaming. I'm tired of being extorted. This could be the piece of the puzzle I need - ability to get PBS and local broadcasting.

OK. I have trouble navigating the structure of this forum. Why would Aereo threads be in high definition programming? Aereo is a service that facilitates streaming over the internet. Oh well.

I agree - the forum structure is pretty ancient and the video delivery options are evolving rapidly.

I struggle sometimes whether to look in 'Video Components' - 'Video Download services and Hardware' or 'Gaming and Content Streaming' - 'Networking, Media Servers & Content Streaming'.

Yea if the aereo thread is in HD programming I wouldn't have found it........
