That is the lowest I've seen the 65 inch ST anywhere, and I've been searching online for at least a month. I think I may just pull the trigger at that price.

Paul's sold me the 65st60 for $2,399 w/ 4yr warranty. I wonder if I called them and said a forum member said he was offered $1,949.99 if they'll credit me from the price I paid ($2,199)

I'm guessing this does not apply to CA. biggrin.gif but still those prices are ~ 100 less than what I got when I called them.

For roughly $400 more, I would jump to the VT60. But that's easy for me to say tongue.gif

Hi lilkhmerkid4u, do you know how long it takes for Pauls to deliver the TV? I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on the 65VT60 but haven't decided yet on that vs. the Samsung 65F7100.

Seems like Pauls has the 65VT60 for 2399, while the 65F7100 shows online on their site for 2497. Any idea if their deal only applies to the VT60?

thanks.

Does anyone have any experience with East Coast or AllTime TV's. I know Amazon won't match their prices, but with the 65ST60, they are at $1895 with free shipping. I understand Amazon's return policy is superior but those prices are at least $100 less.

Thanks

They are not authorized resellers. You will lose out on Panasonic's warranty.

Do you have a best buy near? I read some posts where BB matched ECTV price but I guess YMMV

Another confirmation of Paul's TV doing the 65st60 for $1,999 shipped. They price matched my $2,199 price ($2,399 w/ 4 year warranty) today. SWEET! biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

How did you do this? Over the phone? Would they only price match if you bought the warranty?

I'm coming from a 67" Samsung LED DLP and really want the 65" if I can get it under $2000. If I have to settle for the 60" because of the vast difference in price, do you think I'll regret that 7" change? Anyone regret paying around 50% more for 5 more inches?

I've been torn between the 65 and 60 because of the price difference. I think it is an absurd up charge for 5 more inches. Ultimately, I decided I'm going with the 65. Prices are slowly creeping down. Paul's is selling it shipped w/ no tax at $1999.99, and there are reports of Best Buy matching. I'm waiting 2 more weeks, then I'm pulling the trigger on the lowest price I can find.

Whether or not you'll be disappointed in the 60 is a personal thing. If you put the TV in the exact same spot as the DLP, my feeling is you might always be wondering about the 65. I mean its a TV man - no one wants a smaller TV. biggrin.gif

From displaywars.com, 67 inch vs. 60 inch:

And here is the 67 vs, 65 - hardly a difference in my opinion.

Another confirmation of 65 inch ST60 for $1949.00 through Paul's TV. Free shipping and no tax. This is basically a $350 savings over Best Buy/Amazon when considering sales tax.

I have to admit I was a little skeptical of Paul's just because they always have the lowest authorized dealer prices on the Panny's. But I found the sales rep to be extremely professional and the service was great over the phone. He did try to upsell me some accessories and whatnot, but he was very good about not being pushy. I know its part of the gig, so I didn't mind.

One thing that sealed the deal for me is the 30 day price guarantee. If Paul's or any authorized dealer dips below $1949 in the next 30 days, they will refund my credit card the difference. That made me confident in the purchase.

Its one thing to compare sizes using a theoretical diagram. But when I compared a 65" plasma to a 60" plasma in real life they they both felt equally "BIG" (best word I cause to describe them)

I was sitting about 8 feet away when comparing screens. Yes the 65" tv is bigger, but after I kept the 60" ST60 I don't miss the larger 65 s60.

You also have to keep in mind the bigger the screen the blurrier the image will be (all things being equal).

I agree that in your picture there is not a huge difference between the two.

But the point you are making could be made with any 5 inch size comparison. It might not be a huge difference to you, but there is a reason why people opt for bigger TVs. Its because they are bigger. Also, he is coming from a 67 inch TV. Dropping to 60 inches is a ~20% reduction in actual viewing area. At some point, the inches matter. Whether it matters enough to him is a personal thing. The diagram was meant to give him some reference. Maybe he looks at it and its not a big deal.

Also, it isn't a theoretical diagram. Its the actual difference between a 67 and 60 inch TV. Not everyone is willing to buy two TV's to compare and then return one. Not knocking what you did - its acceptable under the return policy and therefore not a big deal. But the diagram might be the most realistic comparison for some people (save for going into a store).

well yes and no

You also have to keep in mind that the the smaller the tv the bigger the difference in size when changing sizes. The difference between a 55" to 60" is going to be bigger than the difference between a 60" to a 65". I agree with you that he will notice the difference between the 67 and 60 for sure. But I am trying to let people know, especially the ones deciding between a 60" and 65" that the size difference may not justify the price difference, at least that wasn't the case for me.

For example lets take the ST60 . When going from the 60 to 65"

Size increase 5 in = 8.3%
Price difference $700 = 46.6%

Seems folks have found great competition with Paul's, Abe's and BB. I suspect those prices will continue to drop...but I went to...wait for it...Sears. Every place seems to be stuck at $1499 for the 60ST60, and it looks like Sears is trying to be competitive on the 60" and 55" models.

I posted earlier that if you use the Discover card and follow their guide to ShopDiscover, you get 10% back. I just did it. Got $150 back in my Discover account after buying the 60ST60 for $1499. As I pointed out, it's not as clean a purchase as a no tax deal at Amazon or Paul's, but in Maryland it saves $60 after a 6% ($90) tax. Forget doing this with the 65", it's still $2399.

I got lucky though: They botched my first order and gave me an extra 5% off ($75) as compensation. Then, they were an hour late delivering it and gave me bonus points worth $50. My price $1314 for a 60ST60 delivered. plus I joined sears Shop Your Way program and got enough bonus points to buy an HD receiver for almost half price. The delivery was free and I'm starting slides today.

Do the pixels actually get larger when the TV size does in order to avoid this? For example, are the pixels on a 60" TV twice the size of the pixels on a 30" TV?

Get your TV yet? I'm ready to order the 65 and trying to decide between Paul's and ABT, both of which seem to price match to $1949.
