I have the 65" on order scheduled for delivery Friday, but now $1900 compared to $1k might make me think about settling for the 60". Tough call.

Is the extra 5" worth an extra $900...?

I was able to get Amazon to price match the P60ST60 to Fry's last night. The large items department had just closed, so the rep I chatted with arranged for me to get a callback from another team. As soon as the lady on the phone got the ok from her manager to do the price match, I placed the order immediately (while the rep was still on the phone--didn't want her to change her mind after I hung up!), and once I placed the order, she changed the price. I'm stoked!! What a great early-Christmas present to myself in my new apartment!

In my Opinion NO Way

I received an email from Amazon Customer Service at 4:21 AM in my inbox...

Stating that I had been approved for a "price match refund".

It states that if I buy the TV at the regular Amazon price of $1449.99 - I will be credited the difference of $452.99 (to match Fry's price of $997) after the TV has been shipped.

What the...?

Is this how it works?

Why not just match the price - without having to go through all that?!

Is it possible to get a screenshot of the e-mail? Might be useful when talking with an amaon rep.

The extra 5" worth an extra $450..?

I am SERIOUSLY torn between the 60" and 65"!

Just saw the two side-by-side at Best Buy...

Stopped in at Frys about an hour ago, Asked about the 60ST60 for $997...............He basically said they ONLY have 1 in stock ( In Texas ) and its there floor model, and there NOT taking any orders for New models.......but for some reason they post the $ online as well as in store, so as long as that TV doesn't sell it'll be listed at that price of $997 online, so get it while you can..........$1K is dam Great price for this Tv

Just an update for those that are trying to price match the Fry's deal with Amazon, I just received an e-mail allowing a price match.

To get them to price match I contacted Amazon via e-mail about price matching the deal at $997. The original response I received from Amazon didn't have anything to do with price matching and seemed like a automated response. I chose the option in the e-mail saying that this response didn't solve my problem. I followed that link and sent a second e-mail stating that I was looking to price match the Fry's deal, about 8 hours later I was approved.

I have to purchase in the next 48 hours and the difference of $452.99 will be refunded when it ships. Needles to say I already jumped on the deal and placed my order. Hopefully some others have luck with Amazon and will be able to pick these up.

I don't understand...

Why don't they just "price- match"?!

Stating that you have to pay the original price - and then will be refunded the difference AFTER the TV ships is NOT price-matching...

I don't know why they don't just drop the price to directly match Fry's it does seem to be a round about way of doing things.

In the end it doesn't really matter to me, they will charge my credit card the full amount when it ships, and at the same time refund the difference to my credit card, so I pay the $997. Seems a bit convoluted but it works out to the same price as Fry's when it comes down to it and I suppose they didn't call it "price matching" in the e-mail I received it was referred to as the "TV Low Price Guarantee".

This might be really helpful as I keep getting denied. With the names taken out obviously. smile.gif

After chatting with a rep online I received an email from Amazon saying they would price match Fry's for $997 after I had purchased the item at the original cost. All I did was purchase the TV and then contacted Amazon and got the discounted rebate. Never had any issues. All of this was done in less than 24hours. Mostly due to waiting for the Large ticket item department to open. Should have my TV by this coming Friday.

Now we are waiting for the 65" to drop!

:)

If I get the Fry's price match, I will vey likely cancel the 65". If Amazon will not match, then I'll get the 65". Sent to the large items department, said they would respond in 1-2 busniess days.

Anyone not jumping on this deal ( $1000 for the 60 inch model) is a fool

It sounds like the only reason for such a cheap prices is because these are open box display models, after they are gone you will not be able to pricematch to Amazon anymore.

In other words take advantage of this deal NOW.

Well, call me a "fool" then... lol

I went to Best Buy and compared the 60" and the 65".

While the TVs are off - the difference doesn't look to be all that much.

However, when they are on - there is a big difference in size of TV picture.

I really am leaning toward the 65" now.

They don't price match. What they do have is a price guarantee. This is based on someone purchasing a television from them. Which is why they ask you to complete a purchase first. For what it's worth, the adjustments are usually before a large item like this ships.

I was denied the Frys.com price match. I did the live chat and they transferrd me to the large items department. The rep called frys who said it was a limited offer because the TV was discontinued and they were just getting rid of what's left. I argued that it was not discontinued, but he called Panasonic who said it was discontinued since they will no longer make plasmas.

Amazon rep said since discontinued, Frys a limited time offer and no price match. So looks like it will be 65" for me. Congrats to all of those who got the 60" under $1k.

WOW. They sure went through a lot of work there. I am surprised.

My tv shipped on Friday and i got my $453 credit this morning.

@MaxxFusion:  Where are you located?

I received the price match from Frys on Saturday. They had me place the order and after completed he changed the total price of the order and had me go into my cart to make sure the price changed.

I would say to be persistent with this. It took me 5 different tries with different chat people to finally get the price match. I was told from everything that we are not currently PM on TVs, to you are not located within 50 or 100 miles of the store.

So if you really want this deal should just try a couple times and you should be able to get it. Worked for me.

Well I did a chat on Sunday and was told they would not price match Fry's price. After seeing Jammin135's comment I went ahead and tried again. I asked them to price match the $997 price and the person transferred me via chat to the large item team.

That person said he was checking the Fry's site and came back and said YES they would price match it.

I placed the order and he changed the price once I gave him the confirmation number. Now it shows $997 as the purchase price and it's scheduled for delivery this Friday.

So as Jammin135 stated try again, it worked for me.

Amazon price matched my 60PST60 to the $997 Frys price on Friday but the refund didn't get processed until yesterday. $481.75 back. Located in NY.

Bought a 50ST60 from Best Buy this weekend for $975 (plus 24 months no interest). They'll price match until Jan 15th so I'm hoping they'll be some more price drops. Still a hell of a price for this set.
My $5,000 Pioneer 5060HD (not Kuro) died and this Panasonic is definately a step above. Very impressed so far and no buyers remorse due to cost. Just hope it lasts.
I have tried multiple times on two different accounts with no luck. I was told once Frys was a limited time offer and the rest of the times, I was told Frys does not have nay in stock. How do you reply when they say Frys has none in stock?

How were you able to get a price match until Jan 15th? I see on their site they will only price match themselves for up to 15 days after purchase.

emanymton123,

did Amazon send you a notification/email about the refund amount or did you have to check your credit card statement?

my order just shipped as of this morning and was told that would be when the credit would be issued. I suppose it will take a day or two.

Simple. Just write them an email that goes something like this........ "Now I know what you're thinkin', did I fire six shots or only five......."
