If you use Google Chrome, you can install an extension like the Tracktor or CamelCamelCamel and set up a price alert via email when it drops below a price you set. It's also great to see the price history of the items too!

Do they check often enough and send out notifications fairly quickly in order to be useful on Black Friday?

Does anyone know AMazon's return policies? If I take delivery of both the 60" and the 65" and then return one, do I have to pay return shipping and restocking?

They must be hip to the deal..tried 10 times today via chat and they all say store has to be within 50 miles and tv must be in stock. I'm not sure how folks are getting this deal so easy. Also asked to speak to supervisor and they said they are aware of the requests for this price match. Oh well..good deal for you guys getting it!

I tried 5 times sunday and monday getting shot down every time with one rep calling frys and panasonic while I was on hold. I had given up and already had the 65" on order for $1899. Came to the thread this morning and saw a bunch of people getting it, so I decided to try one more time. I was connected via chat to the large items department and was expecting to get shot down again because the TV is unavailable and no frys in my area, but Sam put me on hold for 2 min and then came back and said I could order. I ordered and he changed the price while I was on the chat, no refund necessary

It seems to be total luck of the draw with Amazon price match. I really wanted the 65", but not sure I can pass up the deal on the 60".

wow I wish this was my case. I''ve yet to find that agen that doesn't use the same line frown.gif You would think they would want the business. I'm jinxed! smile.gif
post #516 of 1081
this is what the last agent just said :

"We've had many price matches for this exact TV today. I'm guessing that's why they are already sold out of this TV. I'm sorry we're unable to price match it! frown.gif"

Sorry if this belongs in another thread....

I got the Amazon $997 deal...it's in my cart and scheduled to arrive between 11/25 and 12/2.

HOWEVER - I'm now second guessing my choice after noticing all the threads about input lag. I play a ton of online, multiplayer, FPS and I'm scared that maybe I should have went for the S60 instead?

The deal on the ST60 was so good, and we do watch TV and Movies...so I guess the question is..how bad is the input lag for gamers, and is it bad enough to pay MORE for an S60?

GRRRR
I forget where but one recent gamer posted that the lag wasn't a big deal for him. I think he said that only super serious gamers would likely notice it or really care about it.

Maybe try calling from a different phone line next time? I wonder if they keep a profile of a customer with their associated phone number as the means of identification. If they see in your file based upon your phone number that you've been calling a lot, they automatically shoot you down again. Just speculatin'.

Hey guys,

Thought I would throw this out there...I have been trying all day on Amazon as well with no luck. I called Best Buy as well to see if they would match. They have the same policies as Amazon, however, the BB person said if I can find an ad showing the price, then they will match in store regardless of the item being in stock at frys.com.

So does anyone know if there was a physical print ad in a newspaper or something for the ST60?

Can't you just go try Fry's website and print it?

I was thinking of telling Amazon that I got a price match to Fry's from another retailer and needed to setup a return for my 60ST60 since they rejected my PM! Any thought on this negotiating tactic?!
that is a smart idea.. Im currently trying to chat under my wife's amazon account to try that. Right now on the chat I'm up to talking to a supervisor. They keep telling me its out of stock etc. The level of their politeness is getting less and less as the day goes on. Must be TONS of price chats about this today. I'm sure they would want proof of another price match.
Would be great if a couple of members would post a BB and Amazon receipt! I'd be more than happy to strip personally identifiable info.

I thought fry's comes out with daily ads and they aren't necessarily the same as the online. Dont really shop at fry's nor do I get a newspaper.

Well shot down again..I'm done this time. Talked with a supervisor and still no go. I think they were just bombarded by this thing and know the deal now. Really honestly surprised how folks are claiming it worked..hmmmm

I had the same reservations (have the same reservations, I guess, since I haven't confirmed whether the input lag is acceptable to me). Reading Phatal One's post from the ST60 input lag thread gave me some hope. Basically, ~75ms is not the end of the story. It's possible to lower that number to around 50ms by tweaking various settings:

I ran 50 iterations of the Human Benchmark Reaction Time Test. Unless noted otherwise, all tests on the ST60 were run with MPEG NR - OFF, Motion Smoother - OFF, and Video NR - LOW.

Control Test:
Dell U3011 - Avg 275ms
Known Input lag - 24ms
My Estimated lag - 251ms

Tests
Test 1: ST60 w/ Pixel Direct On - Game Mode Off - Pixel Orbiter On - Overscan On - Avg 347.0ms - Est. Display Lag 96.0ms
Test 2: ST60 w/ Pixel Direct Off - Game Mode Off - Pixel Orbiter On - Overscan On - Avg 322.5ms - Est. Display Lag 71.5ms
Test 3: ST60 w/ Pixel Direct Off - Game Mode On - Pixel Orbiter On - Overscan On - Avg 320.0ms - Est. Display Lag 69.0ms
Test 4: ST60 w/ Pixel Direct Off - Game Mode On - Pixel Orbiter On - Overscan On - Avg 315.0ms - Est. Display Lag 64.0ms
Test 5: ST60 w/ Pixel Direct Off - Game Mode On - Pixel Orbiter Auto - Overscan Off - Avg 305.2ms - Est. Display Lag 54.2ms
Test 6: ST60 w/ Test 5 Settings - Video NR Off - Avg 300.8ms - Est. Display Lag 49.8ms

Repeat Control Test:
Dell U3011 - Avg 279.9ms

I ran the 3rd test a second time because my animals decided to provide an unneeded distraction towards the end. Since there is a human and environmental element here I would say the range on these results is at least +/- 5ms and possibly add another +/-5ms b/c of the wireless mouse on my HTPC. I will retest with a wired mouse later but surprisingly paying attention long enough to click 250 times is somewhat fatiguing at the end of the work day! tongue.gif

Overall, I can say I was never able to match my times on the Dell U3011. I achieved my best times with game mode on and my own individual variability may be skewing the results of game mode a bit. At this point, I can say pixel direct appears to be quite intensive in processing requirements. It basically adds the entire input lag of the U3011 to the existing base panel lag. Game mode seems to be hit or miss in my results but I believe it is worth at least 10ms of processing improvement. I still have to finish the Guitar Hero calibration and would like to see if I can eliminate some of my own variability from the results above. The only thing I can definitively conclude from this limited data set is that the display and firmware in its current state has more than 2x the lag of the U3011 (which is not exactly a gaming monitor).

I'm willing to rerun some of these test in case I have some settings wrong or if there are other combos that may yield better results.

Updated:
Added Test #5 to account for pixel orbiter setting and updated Test 1-4 descriptions accordingly.
Reran the control test at the end of the night just to make sure Test #5 results weren't due to better response time on my part.
Added Video NR settings as suggested by Supermandlb
Added Test #6 to test the Video NR setting.

Now, I'm not sure I can stand to turn overscan off for gaming, since that also (to the best of my knowledge) turns off the pixel orbiter. This was the case on the Panasonic GT25 I just sold, anyway. I believe I can live with the ~ 64ms measured in test 4, though. Actually, there isn't a separate test with pixel orbiter on auto and overscan on, so we don't know which of those two settings causes the drop from ~ 64ms to ~ 54ms. I may have to test that myself.

While this is no longer available, I was able to buy the 65" ST60 on Monday for $1600.00 at HH Gregg. They had it marked down $800.00 and then they had a 3 day 11% off coupon. I had intended to buy the 60" ST60 but just couldn't pass up the deal on the 65". When I ordered it they said that there were only 3 left in the Ohio regional warehouse.

Dammit I would have loved that deal! Already got the 65" but pauls will price adjust after.

Anyone else got leads or coupon codes that have yet to expire ?

Thanks Noah!

I'm in over my head with the input lag and tests results and settings and what it all really means. I currently play on a 2012 LG 55LV4400 (LED LCD) and don't really have any problems. I'm not sure how my new Panny will compare...?

I guess I need to do some more homework...but I have a feeling I won't really be able to make a decision until I actually hook it up and see for myself.

As much as I would have been all over the deal yesterday had I been able to get it, I think maybe 55" is a better fit for the space I have. I am trying to replace a 42" Samsung 720p plasma that is going on 7 years old and has been bullet proof. I see that Pauls TV has a coupon that makes the P55ST60 model $1199 which seems pretty good. Anyone know of a better deal? If not then my next decision is whether to buy from Paul's or have Amazon price match. After being told "no" about a dozen times by Amazon yesterday I have half a mind to buy from anybody but them now. Yeah, I guess I'm bitter but they were certainly within their policy guidelines to deny the match.

I just got an email from Panasonic Direct dropping the price for the 55ST60 to $1124 with free shipping. I've been waiting for black friday deals but I hesitated last year on the ST50 and they disappeared quickly. I'm all in at $1124.

Cool, thanks for the intel. Is this on their main consumer electronics website?

I just signed up at their website and added to cart but it's $1,320.99. Do you have to have a code or something? Maybe it's not active yet?

If you have a different Amazon account try from that and from a different phone number as people are still able to get a price match. Dont give it up so easily.

I tried many online chats, half a dozen phone calls and even emailed them as someone suggested. If it's not in stock at Fry's then Amazon is not honoring the price match. At this point, I think I would just be getting someone in trouble if I found anyone that would agree to do it. I think enough people have inquired now that they have passed the word along not to do it. If I was sitting at home today with nothing to do I might keep trying but I spend my whole lunch hour yesterday and got nothing but frustration. That is not worth any amount of savings.

This was in store only? Did they advertise it online? That is the lowest I have seen the 65" by far. I would have chosen the 65" at $1600 over the 60" at $997.

Just realized $100 shipping plus sales tax brings this up to $1800+ for me.

Maybe not. They sent me an email with a link. When I clicked the link it took me to account registration. After I registered I got a dialog box that welcomed me to their corporate discount group for Cox communications. I'm not a Cox employee but I have a Cox email address. I didn't ask any questions I just placed my order and got a confirmation. PM me with your email address and I'll forward you the email they sent. Maybe it will work for you....maybe it won't. Can't hurt to try.
I'm not sure but I think the Panasonic email offer may have been sent to people who've registered items with them in the past. I received the email too.
