Kindly, I need your urgent advise.

I am setting up a home theater in my home where I use Minx Speakers for all channels except the center channel speaker. In which I need to use a sound bar like:

1) Pinnacle Speakers S-BAR 3509
http://www.amazon.com/Pinnacle-Speakers-S-BAR-3509-9-Element/dp/B003LY36TO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1366307342&sr=8-2&keywords=center+speaker+bar

2) Microacoustics MA153 6-Driver All-Lacquer LCR Bar Speaker
http://www.amazon.com/Microacoustics-MA153-6-Driver-All-Lacquer-Speaker/dp/B004AJ3N9C/ref=sr_1_23?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1366307600&sr=1-23&keywords=center+speaker+bar

3)etc

to sum it up, which large bar - like shape speaker than can be used with a minx 11 and 21 system ? i would like like it to be big bar shaped to wall mount it under my TV.

kindly advise which speakers could be used.

thanks.

Why do you "need" a sound bar like that when one Minx 21 would fit in the same spot?

Well,

I do need a different center speaker other than the minx 21 for design issues. I need the speaker with a bigger width (sound bar - like) that could fit with my Minx 21 and 11 systems.

glad if any one can advise.

thanks.

Could be tough to find something that timbre matches the minx ... Can you create/find some sort of shelf or enclosure for a minx 21 center that would satisfy your design needs?

well, I never thought of that .. but it sounds like an idea though.. but, do you think it is ok to mount the minx inside a shelf or an enclosure ?? wouldn't it affect the sound quality ?? do you have any ideas on how those enclosure should look like ?

I don't recall if the minx are rear ported. But they are small enough that if you built a shelf or enclosure that gave them a little breathing room on the sides and back it shouldn't be much of a problem. Plus, their sound resides in mostly the upper mid and higher frequencies, while most of the problems related to "enclosing" a speaker are in the lower mids and below.

You should mount a wood shelf on the wall with a couple of L-brackets and use the Cambridge S50 center speaker.

I just took a look at the Cambridge S50 speaker.. thanks for the advise. it looks nice .. but, will it integrate well with my MINX 11 and MINX 21 system ??

is there anything I should look in the amp setting ?

I wouldn't count on it. Those are completely different driver designs. The only thing you may have going for matching the Minx with that center channel is the company name.

Another good place to get advice on this is the AVS discussion thread for the Minx speakers. There are Minx owners on there and other people with experience with the Minx who may not be monitoring the main speaker forum.

I don't think an amp setting will address the timbre differences - the MINX speakers have a unique driver (BMR) while the S50 has more standard speaker drivers. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big, big fan of the Cambridge Audio S series speakers (S30, S20, S50) - IMO at their price point they're very hard to beat!

This isn't a speaker quality issue but a timbre matching issue. You could try the S50 as a center and see how close your AVR's room-correction software (Audessy, etc.) can get it's sound to the Minx. It might be fine for you? (The unevenness of the front sound stage would be very distracting for me ...)

On the other hand all these complications/difficulties disappear if you use a MINX as your center wink.gif

+ 1 re the MINX Owners thread being a good resource.

I am just curios .. another option is to use the minx 21 speaker as a center speaker . I shall mount it inside a speaker enclosure .. but in that case, shall the design of the Speaker Enclosure be sealed or Ported ??

any advise ?

This http://www.crutchfield.com/p_065MCTR/Boston-Acoustics-MCenter.html might be a close a match as you're going to find other than using a Minx21 for the center.

Placing the Minx21 in a box of some type shouldn't be a problem as long as the front of the speaker is not recessed.
