Nobody was bashed here either. SI just posted information to share and a lot of people starting trying to pick it a part. Then they continued to do so as the thread moved on. I can see how frustrating it may have been for Nick and SI. It is only a prototype. Just sad the thread had to turn sour was all.

There are lots of good points thrown out there. Questioning is not bashing. For the most part, they are legit questions that aren't really being answered 100%. All that needs to happen is the final tested 3rd party results and that will be the end of that.

Well said, N8. I don't think anyone here was bashing the early specs for the IB version. We just examine them and critique a bit. Without an actual product for 'us' to use yet that's all we can do but speculate. According to some parties we aren't allowed to talk about a product in a critical way unless we own it. rolleyes.gif Not very practical.

ah ha!! i found the thread of the SI 24 by accident hehe. so what is the latest date of delivery for these? are we still at the 600 dollar price point if 4 or more are ordered?

I recently sold my pair of Ftw 21subs so now I am ready to purchase this driver. However I am confused with the new HS title of their 24 on their website. Is this the same IB driver as before? Or is the finished model that can also be used in a box?

It now states their 24 inch driver can be used in a 10 cubic ft /\3 enclosure. Can anyone tell me what would be the box dimensions for the aforementioned size. I want to use this driver in a sealed box.

About a 28" cube. No idea on the other stuff.

Design your box yourself.

Matt at S I gave me 26 x 26 x 26. I guess im going to have get the ball rolling and be the guinea pig on this driver. I will order one tomorrow morning. However ive already ordered a box. Its 10 cubic ft with double baffle, heavy liner finish, and gold plated heavy duty speaker terminals for $185 plus shipping from www.caraudiofactory.com. Their work is as good of quality as Elemental Designs boxes but cheaper and they ship ontime unlike ED.

Should I get the dual 1ohm or the dual 2ohm. Which is the easiest to power? I will be using a Peavey Ipr2-7500 or a Behringer Inuke 12000 when released.

Edit: going with 2ohm version

wow I can't wait to hear your impressions on that sub
Did you sell the 21's to get the 24's?
Yeah I sold my 21s to purchase one 24 now and a second one in a few months. I loved the 21s but my plan is to have 2 large subs combined with 4 18s. No use in having 4 bottom feeder subs together. I will combine the 24 with some 18s for excellent upper and lower bass.

That's interesting. I'm only running 6 18's and I have plenty upper and lower bass. smile.gif

Who is this Matt guy? tongue.gif I think you mean Nick(me).

Yes I did change the title of the 24" woofer. The "IB" designation was simply pigeon-holing the driver into fewer alignments than it was/is usable for. It performs very well in a 10 ft^3 sealed box as well as working in an IB alignment.

Lastly, I STRONGLY recommend a triple baffle and a motor cradle with the HS woofer. You will understand why when you see it in person. cool.gif
post #256 of 522
Sorry for the name confusion but thanks for the info Nick. I will contact my box builder in the morning to see if I can upgrade the baffle and add a motor cradle. Hopefully its not to late.

Nick, where can get such motor cradle? you are selling it as well?
Design the motor cradle in your cross supports for your bracing inside the sub cabinet. Has been used in many other builds on AVS. You can build it as simple or elaborate as you want. Simply build a brace that supports the motor structure when the woofer is mounted. I would also suggest a 3 layer baffle. This woofer has an amazing amount of stroke. And with only 2"-3" on the side it could possibly break with only two. 26" cube is roughly only 1" per sides to mount onto. So I would triple up.

That's great to know it can be DIY, looking forward to Swolephile's build thread

What's the approximate weight of this kiddie pool, I don't recall seeing a figure on the site.

Thanks

There's no way that motor he was tossing in the video weighed 25lb's.

Haha, noooooo, the HS 24 does not weigh 20 lbs. More like 85 lbs in raw form. It's a big heavy breast. Much like bear hugging a gorilla. wink.gif

If you're talking about me throwing my shallow mount motor, it weighs 16 lbs.
Regarding the 24 order: I personally build each 24" woofer. I should have it built by early next week. On average it takes me the days to build one of the beasts.

Freudian slip? I was wondering why I liked them so much better in pairs. biggrin.gif
