Sony SRX R515P 4k dci projector - Page 2

I love the wording in the press release that the projector is "compellingly-priced."smile.gif

Has anyone tried to hook-up an FMP-X1 server to one of these? Is there any reason they wouldn't work together?

I'd like to see this projector lit up by lasers. Instead of being less exciting then xenon it would be more exciting than Xenon. The lack of xenon makes this projector boring, Thus it is screaming for laser.

I can think of two hurdles first you have to edid being specific to certain Sony products and second the IP address set up.

it checks every time it boots so there maybe a problem with that

There is supposed to be a new lower cost version of the 515 coming out, called the 510.
4 bulbs instead of 6.
9k lumens @ 4k:1 CR.

Still hoping for a consumer version so stuff like the FMP-X1 and 3D Bluray could be validated and officially supported. As is, the projectors come with built in servers capable of playing 4k content (DCI) and DCI is the intended market so I doubt Sony sees any need to test or support their consumer server with their pro projectors (and may even want to discourage it).
