A small group from San Antonio tested the full blu-ray disc this past weekend. We met at Bjorn's, a local hi end audio / video store, that has several rooms with very nice equipment and different projectors and setups. We all were there right about 5:30PM. Have to thank Brandon for accommodating our group to the "Ultimate Room" . I'm including a link to this room. http://www.bjorns.com/about/The-Ultimate-Room.aspx
We were there for about 1 hour... until one of the guys (Alittletank) realized and let us know that the store had closed 30 min ago. Once again, Brandon did not mentioned a thing and just kept playing clips for us... Thanks again Brandon for not kicking us out!!!
The room itself it very impressive. The screen has an amazing masking system that works in tandem with the AMAZING Sony 4K projector. The picture was superb... 1080P upconverted to 4K... YEP, upcomverted, not exactly the same as native 4K, but all I can say that the picture quality was there and more!!!
I took my ole trusty Radio Shack sound pressure meter to be used with the "Pulse" clip... well more on this later.
I stayed on the back through out, so I could see the volume level
. I was a little disappointed in this regard; The max volume was at -9 and never even close to the 0 reference volume level. Nevertheless, the sound was loud enough (for most), very, impressibley clear, extremely define and with amazing separation. Very impressed.
What about the Bass - you ask? I was a little disappointed here, don't get me wrong, there was bass and some bass that you could feel once in a while. I was expecting real tactical bass, full power... not there. Since I did not feel the powerful bass or the impression of... WOW that is worth measuring, the SPL never made it out.
Maybe, just maybe, this is the way bass should be? Regardless it was a lot of fun. The hour seem to fly by... and the disc behaved just as it should.
Thanks to all that took the time to meet, and to Brandon for taking the time to show us the "Ultimate Room".
