Why is screen size so important to room size/viewing distance?

I'm slowly building my theater room. I got my projector today and couldn't wait to check it out so with out my audio, mount, screen, nothing but my projector I decided to plug it in and check out the 3D. I setup my screen to center of the room and that's about it. The 3D looked great! I decided to measure the viewing area and it was 139 inches. According to calculators my max screen should be 106.

How important is this? I honestly don't care about all the little details that alot of experts on this forum talk about. To me, as long as it looks good I'm happy. So I would like to go with 120". Is there any reasons I shouldn't?

My projector is the Sharp 30K

12-15 feet. I've done the research since this post and I've watched a few movies at 119" and I think I plan on sticking with it. Although the "rules" say to stay around 96-106 I like the bigger screen and I honestly don't see any loss in quality. Maybe those fancy testers out there can but these eye's can't! smile.gif
