My copy should be waiting for me when I get home from work. I haven't seen it yet but am looking forward to watching it tonight.

Thanks for the review Ralph, I always like reading these!

The GF and I watched it tonight. She enjoyed it, thus I enjoyed it. Very nice job by Cruise. Thanks for pointing it out. smile.gif

First and foremost, Reacher was an ex-Army MP, it's not like he was CID or anything. Where did he get his investigative skills from?

I haven't yet watched the movie (got the blu ray sitting at home waiting) but I have read all of the Reacher books...He's described as the best of the best as far as investigators go and solved all the hardest cases as an MP. As well as having strong intuitions. Sure sometimes it seems a little cheesy how he can figure everything out, but that's part of the fun of this genre of book (or movie). I'm looking forward to the movie even though TC doesn't fit the physical characteristics of Reacher. I guess he can do what he wants since he owns the rights.

Watched it last night. Plot holes you could drive a truck through (and I think they did tongue.gif).

In thinking about Tom's role in this film, there was a line in a very short review many years ago in the SF Chronicle. The film was The Jazz Singer starring Neil Diamond and the review had this summary line about Neil's portrayal of a Jewish Cantor in the film;
The vanity, oh the vanity ... are you listening Tom?

I am such a wet blanket, it wasn't the worst movie I have seen lately but I have seen much better. Just barely worth the two hours invested due to good sound and Ok visuals. Would have much preferred seeing the female lead topless instead of TC...

It did sort of seem like Cruz was on autopilot. The plot was a little so so, some of it reminds me on some TV drama's like Revenge where they want a certain result so the writers seemingly pick the first thing they can think of to get to that point even if it doesn't make any good sense. Overall I still found the movie enjoyable, and +1 on RMK!'s last sentence. wink.gif

Just got around to watching Jack Reacher on blu-ray and enjoyed it quite a lot. Overall, it was more entertaining than I expected it to be. Will be watching it again in a few days, but with the wife, so we'll see what she thinks of it. Oh, and count me in if Rosamund Pike should become an edible plant.

Agreed... I watched this one one evening and watched Arnold's new movie, The Last Stand, the next evening and this one was far better from my own point of view. Hoping for more Jack Reacher movies...

Strong performances. Great experience!! Its less about logic. The blonde did a great job. Mr Wally should give it a second chance smile.gif

Thoroughly enjoyed - fun movie.

The sound during the car chase scene was probably the best sounding car chase I've ever heard.

Very enjoyable movie and the audio was sublime. The car chase and final gun battle were pure sonic bliss!

For those (like me) that dislike shaky, handheld camera work, have no fear. IMO, the movie was well made, purchased right after rental viewing.

Was it me or was the talking in the movie was low?.

Seems like i had to turn the volume half way to hear it, lol.. But the chase scene was awesome :D.

I want that car too hehe

Well, I finally did blind buy this and thoroughly enjoyed it! One cannot just go wrong with your reviews, Ralph, so, much obliged! This movie has all the right ingredients for me, including Cruise! I sometimes think, "Man, this guy's been doing so much good stuff this next one might be disappointing..." And then he goes and does it again! The real treat though, for me, was the inclusion of good ol' Mr. Robert Duvall! Another actor who can do no wrong... wink.gif

It is a really good Blu-ray presentation--boy, the red on that revving Chevy--which I will have to revisit soon as I had to itermittedly interrupt my 1st-time viewing yesterday...(was gonna rewatch it soon anyway!) cool.gif

also enjoyed coming back to this thread and being reminded of what an "edible plant" Pike is!!! Yummie! biggrin.gif

I know this a very late entry but maybe others would like to give it that "one" shot, eh? tongue.gif
