Help on setting up a new home media network.

Ok, I am sure this question has been asked 10k times, but here it goes anyway. I have just completed a new home and have decided it needs a media network for everything to mess well. With the numerous cable outlets I ran cat5 cables also. They all terminate back to a central box in the attic. There will be six TV's in the home, 2-3 cable boxes, blu-ray, dvd, and 3-4 pc's. I think I should put in surround sound in the living room also. What are the best options for my setup? Should I go wireless or wired? The home is large so I guess I might need an access point on opposite ends if wireless. I don't want to spend a tremendous amount of money (>$1,000) so I don't need top of the line equipment just something that works well. Any help is appreciated.

Really the wrong section of the forum for this -- there is a Home AV distribution forum that is a better match. But to answer your question, wired is best, powerline is second best, and wireless is a poor third. Hard wire all you can and then supplement.

If you want high bitrate streaming you need a wired connection. Wireless won't do it and powerline isn't that good either.
